Reservation of Land

Revocation of the Reservation Over Reserves
PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby revokes the reservation over the lands described in the Schedule hereto as reserves for the purposes specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the said lands.

Kaitaia Drainage Area—Notice of Intention to Make and Levy General Rates
PURSUANT to the Swamp Drainage Act 1915 and its amendments, notice is hereby given that it is intended to make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area constituted under the said Act, the general rate described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District the general rates described in the Second Schedule hereto, to meet maintenance costs for the period 1 April 1957 to 31 March 1958.
The amount of the general rates, together with the amount of the annually recurring special rates already made and levied, will be payable in one sum on 30 August 1957.
The valuation roll of the area will be open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Room 8, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Lands and Survey Department, Kaitaia, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.
FIRST SCHEDULE
Town SUBDIVISION
ON the unimproved value of all lands within the Kaitaia Town District, thirty-eight one-hundredths of a penny (0·38d.) in the pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE
RURAL SUBDIVISION
CLASS A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act 1928, forty-five pence and fifty-six one-hundredths of a penny (45·56d.) in the pound.
Class B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, fifteen pence and ninety-four one-hundredths of a penny (15·94d.) in the pound.
Class C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, sixpence and eighty-three one-hundredths of a penny (6·83d.) in the pound.

Varying a Notice Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945
PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945, the Minister of Maori Affairs hereby varies the notice, dated 16 December 1947 and published in the Gazette, on 8 January 1948, at page 11, declaring parts of the Whakatohea-Ngaitai Tribal District to be tribal committee areas for the purpose of the said Act by excluding from the Schedule thereto the description of the Tamatea-Upokorehe Committee area and substituting therefor the description appearing in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
WAIOTAHI TRIBAL COMMITTEE AREA
ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at the middle of the mouth of the Waiotahi River; thence proceeding easterly to and along the sea coast to the north-eastern corner of Section 11, Block II, Opotiki Survey District; thence southerly along a right line to Trig. Station 744, in Block VI, Opotiki Survey District, a right line to Trig. Station 738 (Ahitahutahu), in Block III, Waioeka Survey District, and a right line in the direction of Trig. Station 1, in Block IV, Waioeka South Survey District, to the middle of the Waioeka River near the southern boundary of Section 6, Block XII, Waioeka Survey District; thence down the middle of the Waioeka River to its confluence with the Oponae Stream; thence westerly along a right line to the source of the Waiotahi River; thence down the middle of that river to the point of commencement.
TAMATEA-UPOKOREHE TRIBAL COMMITTEE AREA
All that area bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of a right line between Trig. Station 738, in Block III, Waioeka Survey District, and Trig. Station 1, in Block IV, Waioeka South Survey District, with the middle of the Waioeka River near the southern boundary of Section 6, Block XII, Waioeka Survey District; thence proceeding southerly along the said right line to Trig. Station 1 aforesaid, and a right line to the westernmost corner of Small Grazing Run 90, being a point on the boundary of the Whakatohea-Ngaitai Tribal District, as described in the Gazette of 1948, at page 4; thence westerly, northerly, and easterly generally along the boundary of that tribal district to the middle of the mouth of the Waiotahi River; thence up the middle of that river to its source; thence easterly along a right line to the confluence of the Oponae Stream and the Waioeka River; thence up the middle of the Waioeka River to the point of commencement.
