Black Tower Peak Block VI, Mount Napoleon Survey District. Also in Block I, Ward Survey District, Canterbury. On Main Divide between Mounts Hopkins and Mc-Kerrow.
Waikowhai Stream Blocks X, IX, XIII, and XIV, Gillespies Survey District. Flows into sea near Gillespies Point. Instead of Waikohai.
Waikowhai Bluff Block X, Gillespies Survey District. Immediately east of Gillespies Point. Instead of Waikohai.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT
Black Tower Peak Block I, Ward Survey District. Also in Block VI, Mount Napoleon Survey District, Westland. On Main Divide between Mounts Hopkins and Mc-Kerrow.
Lawrence Peak Block IX, Whitcombe Survey District. The highest point on the ridge between Jagged Peak and North Peak, Arrowsmith Range.
Spires Peaks Block IX, Whitcombe Survey District. Approximately 100 chains east of Mount Murray and 50 chains north of North Peak, Arrowsmith Range.
Steeple Peak Block IX, Whitcombe Survey District. Approximately 45 chains east of Mount Murray, Arrowsmith Range.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT
Bryneira Range Hollyford and Humboldt Survey Districts. Bounded by Hollyford, Pyke, and Olivine Rivers, and Hidden Falls Creek. Instead of Byrniera.
Cleft Creek Caples Survey District. Flows from Lake Turner into Hollyford River. This name is to replace Tutoko to avoid confusion with Tutoko River.
Katiki Point Block II, Moeraki Survey District. The point on which Moeraki Lighthouse stands.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT
Basin Peak Castlemount Survey District. In Wick Mountains 2 miles south-west of Cirque Peak.
Bowmar Falls Block IV, Greenstone Survey District. On tributary of Neale Burn flowing from Lake Erskine.
Bypass Stream Near the Manapouri-Doubtful Sound track, Fiordland National Park. Rises on north-eastern slopes of Matterhorn Peak and flows generally easterly into Spey River. Replaces “Takahe” to avoid confusion with stream of that name in Murchison Mountains.
Canyon Creek In Fiordland National Park. Flows generally southerly from Stuart Mountains and joins Wapiti River near Lake Hankinson.
Charlton Mountain Block IV, Greenstone Survey District. Approximately 2 miles north-west of Ngatimamoe Peak.
Double Peak In Murchison Mountains, Fiordland National Park. Approximately 3 miles north of Coronation Peak.
Erskine Lake Block IV, Greenstone Survey District. North-west of Pyramid Peak.
Flat Top Peak Block IV, Greenstone Survey District. Approximately 1 mile west of Ngatimamoe Peak.

Gendarme Mountain Castlemount Survey District. In Wick Mountains. Approximately 60 chains south-west of Cirque Peak.
Hidden Lake Esk Survey District. On Cozette Burn, 2 miles south-east of Coronation Peak.
Irene Pass Esk Survey District. At head of Irene River, 1 mile north-west of Coronation Peak.
Key Peak At head of Nancy Sound. Two miles south of Saddleback Peaks.
Mike Lake Upper lake on stream flowing into Fanny Bay, Dusky Sound.
Misty River Draining western slopes of Coronation Peak and flowing into Precipice Cove, Bradshaw Sound.
Monk Lake Between Long Sound and Lake Poteriteri. Two miles west of Lake Mouat.
Museum Range Fiordland National Park. Extending approximately from Coronation Peak to Gaer Arm of Bradshaw Sound.
Pyramid Peak Block IV, Greenstone Survey District. Approximately 120 chains north-west of Ngatimamoe Peak.
Riverton Rocks Post Office Block II, Jacobs River Hundred. South-east of Riverton. To replace “Ngapohatu”.
Surprise Creek Castlemount Survey District. Flows north-westerly to join Joe River at a point approximately half mile below the confluence of Talbot and Joe Rivers.
Teardrop Lake On unnamed river flowing into Precipice Cove of Bradshaw Sound. 120 chains north of Precipice Cove.
Victor Lake On Carrick River, Cunaris Sound.
Wade Lake Between George Sound and Middle Fiord of Lake Te Anau. South-west of and draining into Lake Thompson.
Widgeon Lake On Long Burn flowing into Long Sound.
NOTE—All names of alpine features are approved subject to their identification on maps.

Notice of Final Decision of the New Zealand Geographic Board re Assigning of Place Names
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice was given on the 4th day of October 1956 of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board to assign certain place and feature names:
And whereas, pursuant to section 13 of the said Act, objections to the proposed names were considered by the Board on the 6th day of June 1957, and a report submitted to the Minister of Lands thereon:
And whereas, after considering the Board’s report herein, the Minister of Lands has given his final decisions as set out in the Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section 15 of the said Act, notice is hereby given that, on and after the 2nd day of September 1957, there shall be assigned the names set out in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the place and feature described in the second and third columns of the said Schedule.
