Varying a Notice Authorising Officers to Attest Signatures of Maoris to Instruments Under the Chattels Transfer Act 1924
Pursuant to section 464 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to vary the notice published in the Gazette on 7 March 1957 at page 445, authorising certain officers in the service of the Crown to attest the signatures of Maoris to instruments under the Chattels Transfer Act 1924, by deleting therefrom the name “William John Romminger”, and substituting therefor the name “William James Romminger”.

Judge of Courts-Martial Appeal Court
Pursuant to the Courts-Martial Appeals Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, has appointed Edward Denis Blundell, of Wellington, barrister, to be a Judge of the Courts-Martial Appeal Court, to hold office for a term of three years from the 24th day of June 1957.

Scheme of Control of Kaikorai Valley Post-primary School
Pursuant to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the Minister of Education hereby approves of Kaikorai Valley Post-primary School being controlled in accordance with the Standard Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools published in the Gazette of 6 December 1928, Volume III, page 3451: Provided that:
(a) Clause 7 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words “Council of the nearest borough within five miles of the school” were omitted, and the words “Dunedin City Council” were substituted therefor;
(b) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if clause 9 was revoked;
(c) Clause 11 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words “Such an election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1929” were omitted, and the words “The first such election shall be held not later than the first week of the month of May in the year 1958, and such an election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1960” were substituted therefor;
(d) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if the clause set out in the Schedule hereto were inserted after clause 13;
(e) Clause 19 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the reference to the year 1929 were a reference to the year 1960;
(f) Clause 43 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words “The Secretary shall be insured under a fidelity bond for not less than five hundred pounds” were omitted.

CLAUSE TO BE READ AS PART OF STANDARD SCHEME
“13A. (1) In every case where any member is to be elected by the members of the school committees of the public schools to which paragraph (f) of clause 2 of the Kaikorai Valley Post-primary School Board of Governors Order 1957 applies, every such member shall be elected by postal ballot in a manner approved by the Director of Education.
