Directing the Sale of Land in the Borough of Northcote

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 10th day of April 1957

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby directs the sale of the land described in the Schedule hereto, the land being no longer required for the purpose for which it was acquired.

SCHEDULE

ALL those pieces of land in the North Auckland Land District, situated in Block XII, Waitemata Survey District, Borough of Northcote, Auckland R.D., described as follows:

0 0 25·7 Part Lot 6, D.P. 18019, being part Allotment 27, Parish of Takapuna; coloured yellow, edged yellow, on plan.

  • 0 0 25·8 Part Lot 7, D.P. 18019, being part Allotment 27, Parish of Takapuna; coloured yellow on plan.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 152889 (S.O. 39821) deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

Appointing Members of the National Roads Board

PURSUANT to section 3 of the National Roads Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby appoints the following persons to be members of the National Roads Board:

Neil Buchanan Hunt, Esquire, of Rotorua, retired farmer, and Neill Aylmer Rattray, Esquire, M.B.E., of Waimate, farmer, being the nominees of the New Zealand Counties Association Incorporated;

George Alfred Harris, Esquire, of Temuka, retired farmer, being the nominee of the Municipal Association of New Zealand Incorporated;

John Baptist Cullen, Esquire, of Ashburton, company director, to represent the interests of persons being owners of commercial motor vehicles; and

Percy William Breen, Esquire, of Dunedin, insurance agent, to represent the interests of persons being owners of private motor vehicles.

Amending an Order in Council Altering the Boundaries of the Hauraki Catchment District

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 10th day of April 1957

THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act 1941, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby amends the Order in Council dated the 8th day of October 1956, and published in Gazette, 11 October 1956, Volume III, page 1383, altering the boundaries of the Hauraki Catchment District by deleting from the third paragraph of the Second Schedule the words "Block I, Katikati North Survey District", and substituting the words "Block III, Waihi North Survey District", and by deleting from the same paragraph the words "Block I aforesaid" and substituting the words "Block I, Katikati North Survey District".

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, and with the consent of the licensee, hereby revokes the Order in Council dated the 21st day of March 1955 and published in the Gazette on the 31st day of the same month, at page 590, authorising Cyril Leslie Morris, of Tirau, dairy farmer, to use water for the purpose of generating electricity and to erect certain electric lines.

Appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy

PURSUANT to the Naval Defence Act 1913, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments, promotions, and terminations of appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy:

Captain P. Phipps, D.S.c. and bar, V.R.D., appointed Second Naval Member, New Zealand Naval Board, on a date to be reported (granted rank of Commodore, 2nd Class, while holding this appointment).

Commander J. O’C. Ross, promoted to rank of Captain and reappointed, to date 31 December 1956.

Commander H. Barnett, placed on Retired List of Officers (age) and reappointed, to date 19 January 1957.

Lieutenant Commander F. K. Gibson, M.B.E., V.R.D., placed on Retired List of Officers (age), to date 19 December 1956.

Lieutenant (Sp) B. D. Pope, promoted to rank of Lieutenant-Commander (Sp), to date 12 January 1957.

Lieutenant N. D. Anderson, promoted to rank of Lieutenant-Commander and reappointed, to date 16 January 1957.

Acting Sub-Lieutenant J. A. Bell, confirmed in rank of Sub-Lieutenant, transferred to Constructor Branch as Constructor Sub-Lieutenant, and reappointed H.M.N.Z.S. Maori additional for courses, to date 1 September 1956 (to continue to hold temporary unpaid rank of Lieutenant).

Cadet P. J. S. Standen, appointment terminated, to date 31 December 1956.

Messrs Trevor Boyle, Christopher Charles Canning, Ian Appelbe Noble, Michael Robert Pate, and David Ninian Wood entered as Cadet Midshipman and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel additional for passage, to date 24 January 1957, and H.M.A.S. Cerberus additional for training, to date 29 January 1957. (Seniority for training purposes, 1 January 1957.)

Lieutenant (S.D.) S. Murrell (B), R.N. (retired), granted short-service commission of three years, to date 8 March 1957, as Lieutenant (S.D.) (B), Royal New Zealand Navy, with existing seniority.
