PURSUANT to section 17 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint Ivor Prichard, Esquire,

to act as Deputy for the Chief Judge of the Maori Land Court on and from the 24th day of December 1956, until and including the 22nd day of February 1957.

Appointing the Time and Place of the First Meeting of the Waikato Valley Authority

PURSUANT to section 8 of the Waikato Valley Authority Act 1956, the Minister of Works hereby appoints Friday, the 1st day of February 1957, at 9.30 a.m., as the time, and the office of the Ministry of Works, Hamilton, as the place for the holding of the first meeting of the Waikato Valley Authority.

Appointment of Judge of the High Court of Western Samoa

PURSUANT to section 64 of the Samoa Act 1921, the Minister of Island Territories hereby appoints Eric Francis Rothwell, Esquire, of Lower Hutt, to be a Judge of the High Court of Western Samoa on and from the 20th day of January 1957.

Scheme of Control of Onslow College

PURSUANT to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the Minister of Education hereby approves of Onslow College being controlled in accordance with the Standard Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools published in the Gazette of 6 December 1928, Volume III, page 3451:

Provided that:

(a) Clause 11 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words "Such election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1929" were omitted, and the words, "The first such election shall be held not later than the first week of the month of May in the year 1957, and such an election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1959" were substituted therefor:

(b) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if the clause set out in the Schedule hereto were inserted after clause 13:

(c) Clause 16 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words "Borough Council" were omitted, and the words "University College Council" were substituted therefor:

(d) Clause 19 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if every reference to the year 1929 was a reference to the year 1959:

(e) Clause 43 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words "The Secretary shall be insured under a fidelity bond for a sum of not less than five hundred pounds" were omitted.
