Stream in Block XIV, Te Mata Survey District; thence to and
up the middle of that stream to the middle of the Waitukai
Road; thence north-westerly generally along the middle of
that road and the middle of Papanui - Te Aute and Boundary
Roads to a point in line with the eastern side of the Welling-
ton-Napier railway; thence north-easterly generally to and
along that side of the said railway and its production to the
middle of Te Aute Road in Block III, Te Mata Survey Dis-
trict, being also a point on the boundary of Heretaunga
Riding herein described; thence north-easterly generally along
the south-eastern boundaries of that riding and of Clive
Riding, also herein described, to the northernmost corner of
Lot 2 on the plan numbered 4034 deposited as aforesaid;
thence southerly and south-westerly generally along the eastern
boundary of the aforementioned Clive Riding and the north-
western boundary of Waimarama Riding, also herein described,
to a point on the south-western boundary of Lot 1 on the
plan numbered 7410 deposited as aforesaid, in the middle of
the Tukituki River and up the middle of that river to its
confluence with the Papanui Stream, being the point of
commencement, excluding the Borough of Havelock North.
Poukawa RiDing
All that area in the Hawke's Bay Land District, Hawke's
Bay County, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the
middle of Boundary Road in line with the eastern side of the
Wellington-Napier railway in Block XVI, Maraekakaho
Survey District; thence north-westerly along the middle of
that road to the middle of the Napier-Palmerston North
State Highway; thence south-westerly along the middle of
that road to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary
of Lot 5 on the plan numbered 5103 deposited in the office of
the District Land Registrar at Napier; thence north-westerly
to and along that boundary, the north-eastern boundaries of
Lot 29 on the plan numbered 4416 deposited as aforesaid, the
north-eastern boundaries of Section 1, Block XV, Maraekakah o Survey District, the crossing of the Te Onepu Road,
and the north-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block XIV,
Maraekakaho Survey District, to the northernmost corner of
the said Section 1; thence north-easterly along a right line to
the middle of the Maraekakaho Stream at its intersection with
the northern boundary of Section 4, Block XI, Maraekakaho
Survey District; thence easterly along the northern boundaries
of the said Section 4 and of Section 6, Block XI aforesaid,
to the eastern boundary of the Maraekakaho Crown Grant
District; thence northerly along that boundary to the south-
western boundary of Ngatarawa No. 3 Block; thence south-
easterly generally along that boundary and the south-western
boundary of Ngatarawa No. 5 Block to the south-eastern
corner of the last-mentioned No. 5 Block; thence north-easterly
along the south-eastern boundaries of Ngatarawa Nos. 5 and 4
Blocks and north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary
of the last-mentioned No. 4 Block to the middle of the
Hastings-Maraekakaho Main Highway, being a point in line
with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1 on the plan
numbered 6246 deposited as aforesaid, and also a point on
the south-western boundary of Heretaunga Riding herein
described; thence south-easterly along the south-western bound-
ary of that riding to a point in line with the eastern side of
the Wellington-Napier railway; thence south-westerly to and
along that side of the said railway and its production to the
middle of Boundary Road, being the point of commencement.
MARAEKAKAHO RIDING
All that area in the Hawke's Bay Land District, Hawke's
Bay County, bounded by a line commencing at the northern-
most corner of Section 1, Block XIV, Maraekakaho Survey
District, being also the south-western corner of the Poukawa
Riding herein described; thence north-westerly along a right
line to a point in the middle of the Manga-O-Nuku River in
line with the north-western boundary of Section 1, Block X,
Maraekakaho Survey District; thence up the middle of that
river to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of
Block 3, Gwavas Crown Grant District, in Block IV, Wakarara
Survey District; thence north-westerly to and along that bound-
ary and south-westerly along the north-western boundaries
of the said Block 3 and of Blocks 1 and 5 and again Block 1,
all of Gwavas Crown Grant District, and the production of
the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the Mangamauku
Stream; thence up the middle of that stream to its intersection
with the north-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block XI,
Wakarara Survey District; thence north-westerly along that
boundary to the northernmost point of the said Section 1;
thence north-westerly along a right line to the junction of
the Makaroro River and Makaroro Stream (east of Section 8,
Block IX, Wakarara Survey District); thence north-westerly
along a right line in the direction of Trig. Station 30 (Aorangi)
to the summit of the Ruahine Range; thence northerly along
the summit of the said range to Trig. Station Y on the western
boundary of Block XVIII, Ngaruroro Survey District; thence
north-easterly along a right line to a point in the middle of
the Taruarau River in Block II, Ngaruroro Survey District,
in line with the south-western boundary of Block 78, Maraekakaho Crown Grant District, thence down the middle of the
said Taruarau River to and down the middle of the Ngaruroro
River to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section
5, Block XIII, Heretaunga Survey District, being also a point
on the boundary of Heretaunga Riding herein described;
thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the
said Heretaunga Riding to the middle of the Hastings-Maraekakaho Main Highway, being also a point on the north-western
boundary of Poukawa Riding, also herein described; thence
south-westerly along that boundary to the northernmost corner
of Section 1, Block XIV, Maraekakaho Survey District, being
the point of commencement.

Special Order Made by Makara County Council Altering Riding
Boundaries and Adjusting Representation
PURSUANT to section 100 of the Counties Act 1920 as amended
by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act 1921-22, the
Minister of Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following
special order made by the Makara County Council and fixes
the 8th day of October as the date on which the said special
order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER
IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 23 and 59
of the Counties Act 1920, the Makara County Council resolved
by way of special order as follows:

  1. That the present division of the County of Makara into
    two ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said County
    shall be divided into four ridings, to be called respectively
    Makara Riding, Ohariu Riding, Belmont Riding, and Porirua
    Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the
    Schedule hereto.
  2. That the said Makara County Council shall consist of ten
    members, who shall be elected as follows:
    (a) The electors of the Makara Riding, the Ohariu Riding,
    and the Belmont Riding shall each elect one Coun-
    cillor;
    (b) The electors of the Porirua Riding shall elect seven
    Councillors.
  3. That the alterations hereby made shall take effect on and
    after a date to be fixed by the Minister of Internal Affairs.
    SCHEDULE
    MAKARA RIDING
    ALL that area in the County of Makara bounded by a line
    commencing at the intersection of the north-eastern boundary
    of Section 99, Ohariu District, with the mean high-water mark,
    Cook Strait, being a point on the boundary of the County of
    Makara as described in Gazette, 1955, at page 696; thence
    south-easterly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and
    south-eastern boundaries of Section 99 aforesaid, to the north-
    eastern boundary of Section 76, Ohariu District; thence south-
    easterly along that boundary and the north-eastern boundaries
    of Sections 79 and 104, Ohariu District, south-westerly along
    the south-eastern boundary of Section 104 aforesaid to the
    northernmost corner of the land as shown on the plan num-
    bered A. 3196 lodged in the office of the District Land Registrar
    at Wellington; thence easterly generally along the northern
    boundary of that land to the north-western boundary of Section
    57, Ohariu District; thence north-easterly along that boundary
    and the north-western boundary of Section 11, Kaiwharawhara
    District, south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary and
    north-easterly along the north-western boundary of Section 11
    aforesaid, along the north-western boundary of Section 10,
    Kaiwharawhara District, to the northernmost corner of that
    section, being a point on the boundary of the City of Welling-
    ton; thence southerly generally along that boundary as des-
    cribed in Gazette, 1955, at page 695, to the mean high-water
    mark, Cook Strait being a point on the boundary of the County
    of Makara described as aforesaid; thence westerly and northerly
    generally along that boundary to the intersection of the mean
    high-water mark with the north-eastern boundary of Section 99,
    Ohariu District, being the point of commencement.
    OHARIU RIDING
    All that area in the County of Makara bounded by a line
    commencing at the intersection of the eastern boundary of
    Lot 1 as shown on the plan numbered 752 deposited in the
    office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington, with the
    mean high-water mark, Cook Strait, being a point on the
    boundary of the County of Makara as described in Gazette,
    1955, at page 696; thence southerly along the eastern boun-
    daries of Lot 1 aforesaid, the eastern boundaries of
    Komangarautawhiri A 1, A 2, A 3, and A 4D, Wairere 2A,
    2B, 2c, 2D, and 2E 2, north-westerly along the south-eastern
    boundary of Wairere 2E 2 aforesaid, to the eastern corner of
    Section 38, Ohariu District; thence south-westerly along the
    south-eastern boundaries of Sections 38, 39, and 40, Ohariu
    District, the south-eastern boundary of the land as shown on
    the plan numbered B. 271 lodged in the office of the District
    Land Registrar at Wellington, to the northern corner of the
    land as shown on the plan numbered 9126 deposited as
    aforesaid; thence southerly generally along the north-eastern
    and eastern boundaries of that land, along the eastern, north-
    ern, and eastern boundaries of Section 119, Ohariu District,
    to the north-western boundary of the land as shown on the
    Scheme Plan numbered D.514 lodged in the office of the
    Chief Surveyor at Wellington, being a point on the boundary
