Special Order Made by Otamatea County Council Altering Riding Boundaries and Adjusting Representation
Pursuant to section 100 of the Counties Act 1920, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act 1921–22, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Otamatea County Council and fixes the 8th day of October 1956 as the date on which the said special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER
In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act 1920, the Otamatea County Council resolves by way of special order as follows:
“1. The present division of the County of Otamatea into eight ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into nine ridings, to be called respectively Ruawai Riding, Tokatoka Riding, Matakohe Riding, Kaiwaka Riding, Mangawhai Riding, Mareretu Riding, Paparoa Riding, Wairau Riding, and Whakapirau Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.
“2. The said Otamatea County Council shall consist of ten members who shall be elected as follows:
“(a) The electors of the Ruawai Riding, the Tokatoka Riding, the Kaiwaka Riding, the Mangawhai Riding, the Mareretu Riding, the Paparoa Riding, the Wairau Riding, and the Whakapirau Riding shall each elect one Councillor;
“(b) The electors of the Matakohe Riding shall elect two Councillors.
“3. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the 8th day of October 1956.”
SCHEDULE
RUAWAI RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on the left bank of the Wairoa River in line with the northern boundary of Section 89, Block XI, Tokatoka Survey District, and running north-easterly along a right line to and along the southern boundaries of Allotments 5, W.6, E.6, 7, S.W.18, M.18, N.E.18, S.W.19, M.19, and N.E.19, Tokatoka Parish, crossing the intervening roads and along a right line, being the last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of the public road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section 3, Block XI, Tokatoka Survey District, aforesaid; thence south-easterly generally along the middle of that road which also forms the generally southern boundaries of the subdivisions of Allotments 86, 87, 88, Tokatoka Parish, the generally south-western boundaries of the subdivisions of Allotments 85, 84, 83, 82, and 81 of that parish and the western boundaries of Allotments 8, 7, 6, 5, and 4, Omaru Parish, to a point in line with the southern boundary of Allotment S.E.4 of that last-mentioned parish; thence easterly along the southern and eastern boundaries of the said Allotment S.E.4 to a point in line with the middle of the public road forming the southern boundary of Allotment S.E.25, and along a right line to and along the middle of that road and the middle of the road which forms the south-western boundaries of the subdivisions of Allotments 26, 27, 28, 29, 152, 151, 150, and 149 and the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Allotment 149A, the aforementioned allotments being of the Parish of Omaru, to a point in line with the western boundary of Lot 4, D.P.25744, being part Allotments 77 and 76, Matakohe Parish; thence along the western and southern boundaries of part of that Lot 4 to and along the middle of the road forming the generally western boundaries of that Lot 4, part Allotments 58, 49, and the subdivisions of Allotments 51, 52, 53, and 54 of the aforesaid Matakohe Parish and Section 14, Block I, Hukatere Survey District, to the left bank of the Wairoa River; thence westerly and then northerly along the western boundary of the Otamatea County, as described in Gazette No.46 of the 20th day of June 1929, page 1684, to the point of commencement.
TOKATOKA RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on the left bank of the Wairoa River in line with the northern boundary of Section 89, Block XI, Tokatoka Survey District, and running northerly up the left bank of the Wairoa River to the northern boundary of the Otamatea County, as described in Gazette No.46 of the 20th day of June 1929, page 1684; thence north-easterly generally along that county boundary to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 1, Block I, Matakohe Survey District, and southerly generally along a right line to and along that last-mentioned boundary, along the eastern boundary of Section 1, Block V, of the aforesaid survey district, and along a right line, being that last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of the public road forming the generally north-western boundary of Section 4 of the said Block V; thence south-westerly along the middle of that road to and along a right line, being the production northwards of the eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P.25281, being part Allot-
ment 134, Omaru Parish, along the eastern boundaries of that Lot 1, D.P.25281, aforesaid, and Allotments 185 and part 133 and along a right line, being that boundary produced to and along the middle of the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P.29891, being Allotment 133, Omaru Parish, to a point in line with the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned Lot 1; thence southerly along a right line to and along the eastern boundaries of that Lot 1 and of Lot 2, D.P.29891, aforesaid, being part Allotment 132 to and along the eastern boundary of Allotment S.E.132, and along a right line, being that last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of a public road forming the north-eastern boundary of Allotment E.113, Omaru Parish, aforesaid; thence along the middle of that road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of that Allotment E.113, and along another right line to and along the eastern boundaries of Allotments E.113 and E.112, both of Omaru Parish, and along the northern boundary of the closed road as shown on S.O.Plan 17282 to a point in line with the middle of the public road forming the north-western boundary of Allotment 84, Matakohe Parish, in Block IX, Matakohe Survey District; thence south-westerly generally along a right line to and along the middle of that road, which also forms the north-western boundaries of Allotment 83, 82, 81, and 80 of that last-mentioned parish, to a point due east of the easternmost corner of Lot 3, D.P.23302, being part Allotments 30 and 31 of Omaru Parish; thence along a right line running due west to and along the south-eastern boundary of that Lot 3, the north-eastern boundaries of Allotments S.E.28 and 29, the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of Allotment 152, and the north-eastern boundaries of Allotments 151, 150, 149 of the aforesaid Parish of Omaru to and along a right line, being that last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of the public road forming the north-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P.26516, being part Allotment 260, Matakohe Parish; thence along the middle of that road to and westerly along the north-eastern boundary of the Ruawai Riding as hereinbefore described to the point of commencement.
MATAKOHE RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Mangonui River in line with the eastern boundary of Section 1, Block I, Matakohe Survey District, and running easterly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the western boundary of Allotment 237, Mareretu Parish; thence southerly along a right line to and along the western boundaries of Allotments 237, 238, 240, 241, 243, 244, 245, 217, and 216 of the aforesaid parish, the north-western boundary of Allotment 155, Paparoa Parish, and the northern boundaries of Allotments 139, 138, and 137, the western boundaries of Allotments 137 aforesaid, 140, 145, 146, 166, 165, and 164, and the southern boundaries of Allotments 164 aforesaid and 163 crossing the intervening public road, the aforesaid allotments all being of the Parish of Matakohe, and along a right line, being that last-mentioned boundary produced to and down the middle of the Matakohe River, the middle of the Arapaoa River, and the middle of the Otamatea River to the south-western boundary of the Otamatea County, as described in Gazette No.46 of the 20th day of June 1929, page 1684; thence generally northerly along that boundary to and along the eastern boundaries of the Ruawai and Tokatoka Ridings hereinbefore described to the point of commencement.
KAIWAKA RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Piroa Stream in Block X, Waipu Survey District, in line with the eastern boundary of Allotment 152, Kaiwaka Parish, and running southerly generally along a right line to and along that eastern boundary and a right line, being that boundary produced to and along the middle of the road forming the northern boundary of Allotment 112 and the generally western boundaries of Section 3, Block X, Waipu Survey District, and Allotments 131, 91, 90, 89, 294, 293, 88, and 299, the northern and western boundaries of Allotment 21 and the south-western boundary of Allotment 22, the southern boundary of Allotment 206, and the western boundary of part Allotment 149A, the aforesaid allotments being of the said parish to a point in Block IV, Otamatea Survey District, in line with the southern boundary of part Allotment 149A aforesaid; thence easterly along a right line to and along that southern boundary, the southern boundary of Allotment 150A of the said parish, and a right line, being the production of that boundary to and down the middle of the Hakaru River to and south-westerly and north-westerly along the boundary of the Otamatea County, as described in Gazette No.46 of the 20th day of June 1929, page 1684, to the middle of the Otamatea River; thence north-easterly generally up the middle of that river and the middle of the Kaiwaka River to the south-eastern corner of Lot 4, D.P.2845, being part Allotment 147, Wairau Parish, in Block XIII, Waipu Survey District; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of that Lot 4 and the eastern boundaries of Lot 10, D.P.2845, aforesaid, Lot 2, D.P.37995, and Lot 2, D.P.27868, the said lots being parts of Allotment 147 aforesaid, the eastern boundaries of Lot 2, D.P.29926, and part Lot 12, D.P.3184, both being parts of Allotment 148, the eastern boundary of Allotment 201 and the eastern boundary of Lot 11, D.P.3184, being part Allotment 148 aforesaid, to and along the eastern boundary of Lot 5, D.P.29908, being part Allotment 140 and Allotments 141, 142, 143, 144, and 145, the said allotments being of the Parish
