Officers Authorised to Attest Signatures of Maoris to Instruments Under the Chattels Transfer Act 1924

Pursuant to section 464 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to authorise the persons named in the Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown employed by the Department of Maori Affairs in the positions set out opposite their respective names, to attest, in accordance with the provisions of the said section 464, the signatures of Maoris to instruments by way of security within the meaning of the Chattels Transfer Act 1924.

Pursuant to section 222 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to authorise the persons named in the Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown employed by the Department of Maori Affairs in the positions set out opposite their respective names, to attest, in accordance with the provisions of the said section 222, the signatures of Maoris to instruments of alienation of Maori land.

Pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Maori Trust Boards Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint the following persons to be members of the Ngaitahu Maori Trust Board for the term of three (3) years from and including 10 September 1956 to represent the districts set out opposite their respective names:

Appointment of Honorary Officers

Pursuant to section 29 of the Statutes Amendment Act 1946, the Minister of Marine hereby appoints the persons named in the Schedule to this Warrant to be honorary officers for the acclimatisation district shown in such Schedule for the purposes of Part II of the Fisheries Act 1908, such persons to hold office until the 31st day of March 1959.

Scheme of Control of Porirua Post-primary School

Pursuant to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the Minister of Education hereby approves of Porirua Post-primary School being controlled in accordance with the standard scheme of control for secondary schools published in the Gazette on 6 December 1928, Volume III, page 3451:

Provided that—

(a) Clause 7 of the standard scheme shall be read as if the words "Council of the nearest borough within five miles of the school" were omitted, and the words "Hutt County Council" were substituted therefor;

(b) Clause 11 of the standard scheme shall be read as if the words "Such election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1929" were omitted, and the words "The first such election shall be held not later than the first week of the month of May in the year 1957, and such an election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1959" were substituted therefor;

(c) Clause 16 of the standard scheme shall be read as if the words "an Education Board or Borough Council" were omitted, and the words "the Wellington Education Board or the Hutt County Council" were substituted therefor;

(d) Clause 19 of the standard scheme shall be read as if every reference to the year 1929 were a reference to the year 1959:

(e) Clause 43 of the standard scheme shall be read as if the words "The secretary shall be insured under a fidelity bond for a sum of not less than five hundred pounds" were omitted.
