Revoking Declaration of Main Highway and Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway

Pursuant to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. (1) The public highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways.

(2) The Order in Council made on the 2nd day of October 1940,* declaring (inter alia) the public highway firstly described in the First Schedule hereto to be a main highway, is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said highway.

(3) The Order in Council made on the 2nd day of October 1940,* declaring (inter alia) the public highway secondly described in the First Schedule hereto to be a main highway, is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said highway.

  1. The public highways described in the Second Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

FIRST SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 17

ALL that public highway in the County of Clutha declared as the Balclutha–Papatowai Main Highway as described in Order in Council dated 2 October 1940.*

All that public highway in the County of Clutha and the Borough of Balclutha declared as the Balclutha–Kaka Point Main Highway as described in Order in Council dated 2 October 1940.*

SECOND SCHEDULE
ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 17

Balclutha–Papatowai: All that public highway in the County of Clutha commencing at the southern boundary of the Borough of Balclutha at the north-east corner of part Section 11, Block XXXIII, Clutha Survey District, D.P. 3656, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly and south-westerly direction via Otanamomo, Romahapa, Glenomaru, Owaka, and Kalers Saddle Road and terminating at its junction with the Waikawa–Papatowai Main Highway at the north-eastern corner of Section 26, Block IV, Tautuku Survey District, being a distance of 37 miles 36 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 151046 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Also all that public highway in the Borough of Balclutha, commencing at the junction of Renfrew Street and Clyde Street at the north-western corner of Allotment 1, being parts Sections 9 and 10, Block VI, Town of Balclutha, D.P. 4161, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction via Renfrew, Douglas, Baxter, and Stewart Streets; thence along the street between Blocks VIII and XI, and crossing the Catlins Branch Railway adjacent to the southern corner of part Allotment I, Block XI, thence along the right bank of the Koau branch of the Clutha River, and terminating at the southern boundary of the said borough at the southernmost corner of part Lot 24, Rosebank Estate, D.P. 397, being a distance of 1 mile 10 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 151046 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Balclutha–Waitepeka: All that public highway in the County of Clutha commencing at its junction with the Dunedin–Gore State Highway at the northernmost corner of Section 2, Block 33, Clutha Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction and terminating at the southern boundary of Section 9, Block 38, Clutha Survey District, being a distance of 4 miles 48 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 151047 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Otanomomo–Kaka Point: All that public highway in the County of Clutha commencing at its junction with the Balclutha–Papatowai Main Highway at the northernmost corner of part Section 4, Block 17, Clutha Survey District, D.P. 6940, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly and southerly direction and terminating at the southernmost corner of Allotment 22, Township of Willsher, D.P. 1183, being parts of Sections 4 and 5, Block II, South Molyneux Survey District, being a distance of 9 miles 16 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 151047 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Clinton–Owaka: All that public highway in the County of Clutha commencing at its junction with the Dunedin–Gore State Highway at the northernmost corner of Allotment 1, being part Section 79, Block IX, Pomahaka Survey District, D.P. 210, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly and south-easterly direction via Purekireki and terminating at its junction with the Balclutha–Papatowai Main Highway at the southernmost corner of part Allotment 2, Block II, Township of Quakerfield, D.P. 4533, being part Section 11, Block VIII, Glenomaru Survey District, and being a distance of 30 miles 32 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 151046 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Dated at Wellington this 30th day of August 1956.

Deficiency Payments in Respect of Export Meat

Pursuant to the Meat Export Prices Act 1955, notice is hereby given that the deficiency payments set out in the Schedule hereto may be made to the owners in accordance with that Act for the classes of meat specified in the said Schedule for the week commencing on Monday, the 27th day of August 1956.

SCHEDULE

Chilled beef 1½d. per pound.
Ox and heifer quarter beef 1½d. per pound.
Quarter cow beef ⅔d. per pound.
