Driving Schools of Instruction for Motor Cycle Drivers


PURSUANT to regulation 8 of the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940* (as contained in regulation 4 of the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, Amendment No. 11), the Minister of Transport hereby approves as schools of instruction for the purpose of the said regulations those courses of instruction in motor cycle driving conducted by the organisations described in the Schedule hereto.

Classification of State Highways


PURSUANT to regulation 3 (1) and 3 (11) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1955, the Commissioner of Transport hereby revokes those portions of the warrant dated the 20th day of October 1950* in so far as they apply to the classification of the State highways described in the Schedule hereto, and as required by the National Roads Board, hereby declares that the said highways shall belong to the class as set out in the said Schedule.


SCHEDULE

STATE HIGHWAYS CLASSIFIED IN CLASS ONE

Blenheim–Nelson State Highway No. 52.

Nelson–Westport State Highway No. 54 (that portion from Nelson to the western boundary of Murchison County but excluding the portion within Richmond Borough).

Revoking Bylaws Regulating Traffic on the Waimea River Bridge, Appleby (on the Richmond–Collingwood State Highway) and on the Waikanae and Otaki River Bridges (on the Levin–Paekakariki State Highway)


PURSUANT to section 13 of the National Roads Act 1953 and section 54 of the Transport Act 1949, the National Roads Board hereby revokes, as from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the bylaws specified in the Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE

  1. The bylaw regulating traffic on the Waimea River Bridge at Appleby on the Richmond–Collingwood State Highway and published in Gazette, 22 April 1948, Vol. I, page 435.

  2. The bylaws regulating traffic on the Waikanae River Bridge and the Otaki River Bridge both on the Levin–Paekakariki State Highway and published in Gazette, 14 May 1953, Vol. II, page 756.

This revocation was made by resolution duly passed at a meeting of the National Roads Board held in Wellington on the 16th day of August 1956.

Bylaw Regulating Traffic on the Waikanae River Bridge on the Levin–Paekakariki State Highway


PURSUANT to section 13 of the National Roads Act 1953 and section 54 of the Transport Act 1949, the National Roads Board hereby makes the following bylaw:


BYLAW

  1. This bylaw may be cited as the National Roads Board Bylaw 1956, No. 6.

  2. This bylaw shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  3. In this bylaw “vehicle” has the meaning assigned to it in the Transport Act 1949.

  4. No person shall drive or take or permit to be driven or taken any vehicle upon or over the Waikanae River Bridge (being the bridge described in the Schedule hereto) at a speed exceeding 10 miles an hour.

  5. Every person who commits an offence against this bylaw is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £20.


SCHEDULE

THE Waikanae River Bridge on the Levin–Paekakariki State Highway being and comprising both portions of the composite two-lane bridge spanning the Waikanae River at Waikanae.

This bylaw was made by resolution duly passed at a meeting of the National Roads Board held in Wellington on the 16th day of August 1956.

Revoking Declaration of Main Highway and Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway


PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. (1) The public highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highway.

(2) The Order in Council made on the 8th day of April 1953*, declaring (inter alia) the said highway to be main highway, is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said highway.

  1. The public highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 1

ALL that public highway declared as the Whangarei–Onerahi Main Highway as described in Order in Council dated 8 April 1953.*
