Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
ORDER
- (1) This order may be cited as the Hanmer Rabbit District Order 1955.
(2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
- The boundaries of the Hanmer Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 14th day of September 1949,* are hereby altered and redefined; and as from the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE HANMER RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the County of Amuri, Canterbury Land District, containing 359,400 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at Lewis Pass on the summit of the Spencer Mountains, being the boundary between the Nelson and Canterbury Land Districts; thence north-easterly generally along the summit of the Spencer Mountains aforesaid to an unnamed peak marked 6,500β in Block II, Humboldt Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line through Trig. Station MO, Block IV, Maling Survey District, to the shore of Lake Tennyson; thence southerly generally along the western shore of that lake to and along the middle of the main stream of the Clarence River to a point opposite the junction of the private road over Jacks Pass with the road to St. James Station; thence again southerly generally to and along the said private road over Jacks Pass to Jacks Pass Road (Main Highway 685); thence south-easterly and southerly generally along Jacks Pass Road and Christchurch-Hanmer Road (Main Highway 108) to a point in line with the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 15331, in Block II, Lyndon Survey District; thence easterly generally to and along the road forming the northern boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 15331, and Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 14881, to Leslie Pass Road; thence southerly generally along Leslie Pass Road to the right bank of the Hanmer River; thence easterly and northerly generally along the right bank of the Hanmer River and the right bank of Boundary Stream, and north-easterly to and along the north-western boundary of Run 279 (Hossack Run), and the production of that boundary to the middle of the main stream of the Clarence River; thence easterly generally along the middle of the main stream of the Clarence River to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Run 279 aforesaid; thence south-westerly generally to and along the south-eastern boundary of Run 279 to and along the right bank of the Lottery River to the northern boundary of part Lot 1, D.P. 8389, in Block I, Waiau Survey District; thence westerly generally along the northern boundaries of part Lot 1, D.P. 8389 aforesaid, Rural Sections 37675, 37674, and 37673, to and along the southern boundary of the Hossack Run to the left bank of the Hanmer River; thence south-westerly generally along that bank to the confluence of the Hanmer and Waiau Rivers; thence due westerly to the middle of the main stream of the Waiau River; thence westerly and northerly generally along the middle of the main streams of the Waiau, Hope, Boyle, and Lewis Rivers to the source of the last-mentioned river at Lewis Pass, the point of commencement.

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby directs the sale of the land described in the Schedule hereto, such land being no longer required for the public work for which it was taken.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land directed to be sold: 2 roods 28 perches.
Being part railway land in Memorial 59792.
Situated in Block XIV, Kaipara Survey District, Helensville Borough. (S.O. 39563.)
In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L.O. 14217 deposited in the office of the New Zealand Railways Commission at Wellington, and thereon coloured orange.
