RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Dipton Channel Works Loan 1956, £7,000

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the
Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, and the Soil Conservation
and Rivers Control Act 1941, and all other powers in that
behalf it enabling, the Southland Catchment Board hereby
resolves as follows:

"That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £7,000 known as the Dipton Channel
Works Loan 1956, authorised to be raised by the Southland
Catchment Board under the above-mentioned Acts for the
purpose of meeting the Board's share of the cost of improvements
to the Dipton Channel from its confluence with the
Oreti River for a distance of approximately 12 miles, the said
Board hereby makes and levies a special rate on a graduated
scale according to a classification made for the purposes of
such rate of the lands within that part of the Southland
Catchment District defined in the Schedule hereto and known
as the 'Dipton Channel Rating District' as follows:

"Two hundred and eighty-five decimal fifty-seven pence
(285·57d.) in the pound (£) of the rateable unimproved
value of lands classified as Class A;
"Seventy decimal eleven pence (70·11d.) in the pound
(£) of the rateable unimproved value of lands classified
as Class B;
"Twenty decimal fifty-two pence (20·52d.) in the pound
(£) of the rateable unimproved value of lands classified
as Class C;
"Three decimal forty-two pence (3·42d.) in the pound
(£) of the rateable unimproved value of lands classified
as Class D;

and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate
during the currency of such loan and shall be payable on the
1st day of August in each and every year during the currency
of such loan, being a period of ten years, or until the loan is
fully paid off."

All that area in the Southland Land District situated in
Blocks XIX, XXIII, XXIV, XXX, XXXIV, XXXVII, and XLI,
Taringatura Survey District, and Section 443 of Block XLII,
Hokonui Survey District, and bounded by a line commencing
at the intersection of the western boundary of the Oreti River
Reserve with the boundary between Sections 1s and 3s, Fernhill Settlement, Block XLI, Taringatura Survey District; thence
in westerly direction along the boundary between the said
Sections 1s and 3s to its intersection with the county road;
thence in a northerly direction along the western boundary
of the said county road to its intersection with the boundary
between Sections 2 and 3, Block XXXVII; thence in a westerly
direction along the said common boundary between Sections
2 and 3 to its intersection with the eastern boundary of
Section 124; thence in a northerly direction along the said
eastern boundary of Section 124 and continuing across Tarata

said county road to its intersection with the south-eastern
corner of Block XXX; thence in a northerly direction along
the western boundary of the said Block XXX to its intersection
with the southern boundary of Block XXIV; thence in
a westerly direction along the said southern boundary of
Block XXIV to its western extremity; thence in a northerly
direction along the western boundary of Block XXIV to its
intersection with the southern boundary of Lot 25, L.T.P. 52,
Blocks XXIV and XXIII; thence in a westerly direction along
the said southern boundary of Lot 25 to its intersection with
the eastern boundary of the county road; thence in a northerly
