Special Order Made by Matamata County Council Altering
Riding Boundaries
Pursuant to section 100 of the Counties Act 1920, as
amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act
1921–22, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby publishes the
following special order made by the Matamata County Council,
and fixes the 1st day of October 1956 as the date on which
the said special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER
IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the
Counties Act 1920, the Matamata County Council resolves
by way of special order as follows:

  1. That the present boundaries of the Waharoa and Peria
    Ridings be altered by the transfer of an area from the Peria
    Riding to the Waharoa Riding.
  2. That the present boundaries of the Tokoroa Riding be
    altered, and that a new riding, to be named the Maungaiti
    Riding, be constituted.
  3. That the Karapiro and Maungatautari Ridings be united
    to form a new riding to be named the Lake Karapiro Riding.
  4. That the boundaries of the Waharoa, Peria, Tokoroa,
    Maungaiti, and Lake Karapiro Ridings be those set forth in
    the Schedule hereto.
  5. That the alterations hereby made shall take effect as from
    the 1st day of October 1956.
    SCHEDULE
    WAHAROA RIDING
    ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded
    by a line commencing at a point in Block XII, Wairere Survey
    District, being the intersection of the middle of the Tahuna—
    Waharoa Main Highway with the middle of the Mangapapa
    Stream and running generally north-easterly along the northern
    boundary of the Matamata County as described in Gazette
    No. 15 of the 16th day of March 1950, page 277, to and up
    the middle of the Waihou River to a point in line with the
    middle of the Okauia Hot Springs Road; thence south-westerly
    generally along a right line to and along the middle of that
    road and the middle of Tower Road to the eastern boundary
    of the Matamata Borough as described in Gazette No. 87 of
    the 29th day of November 1934, page 3772; thence north-
    westerly generally along that boundary to and along the eastern
    side of the Auckland-Rotorua railway to a point in line
    with the middle of the Tahuna-Waharoa Main Highway;
    thence along a right line to and along the middle of that
    highway to the point of commencement.
    PERIA RIDING
    All that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded
    by a line commencing at a point in Block VIII, Cambridge
    Survey District, being the westernmost corner of Section 4 of
    that last-mentioned block, and running north-easterly generally
    along the north-western boundary of the Matamata County as
    described in Gazette No. 15 of the 16th day of March 1950,
    page 277, to the western boundary of the Waharoa Riding
    hereinbefore described; thence south-easterly and southerly
    generally along the south-western and western boundaries of
    that riding to and along the northern, western, and southern
    boundaries of the Matamata Borough as described in Gazette
    No. 87 of the 29th day of November 1934, page 3772, to and
    along the eastern side of the Auckland-Rotorua railway to a
    point in line with the middle of Puketutu Road; thence
    westerly along a right line to and along the middle of that
    road and the middle of Matai Road to a point in line with
    the southern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 19658, being part Section
    143, Matamata Settlement; thence westerly along a right line
    to and along the southern boundaries of Lots 2 and 1, D.P.
    19658 aforesaid, and along a right line being that last-
    mentioned boundary produced to the middle of the Manga-
    papa Stream; thence up the middle of that stream and along
    the southern and western boundaries of Section 3 and the
    south-western boundary of Section 4, both of Block VIII,
    Cambridge Survey District, to the point of commencement.
    LAKE KARAPIRO RIDING
    All that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded
    by a line commencing at the southernmost corner of Section
    3, Block VI, Cambridge Survey District, and running north-
    easterly along the north-western boundary of the Matamata
    County as described in Gazette No. 15 of the 16th day of
    March 1950, page 277, to and along the south-western boun-
    dary of the Peria Riding hereinbefore described to and
    southerly along the western boundaries of the subdivisions of
    Sections 136, 135, 134, 133, 132, 131, 130, and 129, Matamata
    Settlement, and along a right line being the production of the
    eastern boundary of Section 142, Block XVI, Cambridge
    Survey District, to and up the middle of the Waikato River to
    the western boundary of the Matamata County aforesaid;
    thence generally north-westerly along that boundary to the
    point of commencement.
    TOKOROA RIDING
    All that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded
    by a line commencing at a point in Block VIII, Patetere South
    Survey District, being the western corner of Lot 13, D.P. 23866,
    being part Tokoroa No. 1 Block, and running southerly along
    the western boundaries of that Lot 13 and of Section 48 of
    the said Block VIII and along a right line being the last-
    mentioned boundary produced to and up the middle of the
    Whakauru Stream to and along a series of right lines parallel
    to and 5 chains distant from the middle of Tirau—Wairakei
    State Highway to a point in line with the southern boundary
    of Lot 1, D.P. 33685, being part Tokoroa No. 1 Block in
    Block XII, Patetere South Survey District; thence south-
    westerly along a right line to and along that southern boun-
    dary and the production of that boundary to the eastern boun-
    dary of Lot 18, D.P. 23865, being part Tokoroa No. 1 Block;
    thence northerly along that eastern boundary and the eastern
    boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 33684, and part Lot 7, D.P. 32554,
    the said lots being part Tokoroa No. 1 Block aforesaid, to
    and westerly along a right line parallel to and 10 chains distant
    from the middle of Maraetai Road to the eastern boundary of
    Lot 5, D.P. 32554, being part Tokoroa No. 1 Block aforesaid,
    and again northerly along that boundary to the northernmost
    corner of that Lot 5; thence along a right line to the south-
    eastern corner of Lot 2, D.P. 29115, being part Tokoroa No. 1
    Block, and along another right line passing through the inter-
    section of the northern side of Baird Road with the middle
    of the Matarawa Stream to a point in Block VII, Patetere
    South Survey District, 10 chains distant from, measured at
    right angles to, the middle of Baird Road aforesaid; thence
    easterly along a series of right lines parallel to the middle of
    that last-mentioned road to and up the middle of the Whakauru
    Stream to and northerly along the eastern boundaries of part
    Lot 6 and of Lot 4, D.P. 23866, being parts Tokoroa No. 1
    Block aforesaid, to the northernmost corner of that Lot 4;
    thence easterly along a right line to the westernmost corner of
    Lot 13, D.P. 23866 aforementioned, the point of commence-
    ment.
    MAUNGAITI RIDING
    All that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded
    by a line commencing at a point in Block VIII, Wharepapa
    Survey District, in line with the southern boundary of Lot 2,
    D.P. S. 3968, being parts of subdivisions of Matanuku and
    Waotu South Blocks and running easterly generally along a
    right line to and along that southern boundary and the
    southern and eastern boundaries of part Matanuku No. 3
    Block comprised in certificates of title, Volume 47, folios 216
    and 217, the southern boundary of part Lot 1, D.P. 22069,
    being part Section 43c, Matamata Settlement, the southern
    boundary of part of the said Section 43c, shown on D.P.
    25289, the southern boundaries of Sections 21 and 22, and the
    south-eastern boundaries of Sections 16 and 15, the aforesaid
    sections being of Block VII, Patetere South Survey District,
    and along the south-eastern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 23866,
    being part of Section 44, Matamata Settlement aforesaid,
    crossing the intervening public roads to and along the western,
    southern, and eastern boundaries of the Tokoroa Riding here-
    inbefore described to and along the south-eastern boundaries
    of Lot 3, D.P. 23866 aforesaid, and Lot 3, D.P. 24035, being
    part Section 46 of the aforesaid settlement, and the southern
    and eastern boundaries of Lot 3, D.P. 26224, being part Sec-
    tion 46 aforesaid, to and along the south-western boundaries
    of Te Whetu No. 3c Block, Section 1, Block IV, Horohoro
    West Survey District, Sections 2 and 4, Block III of that last-
    mentioned survey district, and the southern and eastern
    boundaries of Patetere South No. 2 Block crossing the inter-
    vening public roads to the westernmost corner of Section 9,
    Block V, Horohoro Survey District; thence southerly, westerly,
    north-westerly, and then northerly along the boundary of the
    Matamata County described in Gazette No. 15 of the 16th day
    of March 1950, page 277, to the point of commencement.
