British Columbia, Canada, which has established a place of
business in New Zealand at the offices of Messrs Gilfillan,
Gentles, and Steen, Public Accountants, National Bank Chambers, Fort Street, Auckland, New Zealand, will cease to have
a place of business in New Zealand on the expiration of
three (3) months from the first appearance of this advertisement.

APPLICATION FOR LICENCE FOR WATER RACE

EDWARD JOSEPH KEARNEY, of Gimmerburn, Farmer,
hereby gives notice that he has applied for a licence for
a water race to lift four heads of water from the Gimmerburn
Creek for irrigation purposes. The point of intake is in Section
21, Block VI, Gimmerburn Survey District. The length of the
race is 250 yards, terminating in applicant's Section 13. At
least two heads of water will be allowed to remain in Gimmerburn Creek at the place where it crosses the public road,
30 chains below the point of intake. The race is 2 ft. 6 in. deep
and 2 ft. 6 in. wide and is already constructed. The application
and all objections thereto will be heard on Wednesday, the
8th day of August 1956, at 10 a.m., at the Warden's Court,
Cromwell, and all objections must be filed in the Registrar's
office and notified to the applicant at least three days before
the time so appointed. His residence at Gimmerburn is his
address for service.

TAKAPUNA BOROUGH COUNCIL
RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING SPECIAL RATE
Sewerage Extension Loan, Ward "A", 1954, £32,000 (Part
Issue of £20,000)
THE following resolution was passed at a meeting of the
Takapuna Borough Council held on 26 June 1956:
"That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of twenty thousand pounds (£20,000)
authorised to be raised by the Takapuna Borough Council by
way of special loan, under the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926,
the Local Government Loans Board Act 1926, and the amendments thereof and regulations thereunder respectively and of
all other powers thereunto enabling it, for the purpose of
providing sewerage reticulation in further areas in Ward 'A'
of the Borough of Takapuna, the said Takapuna Borough
Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one hundred
and sixteen one-thousandths of one penny (116/1000d.) in the
pound (£) on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in Ward 'A' of the
Borough of Takapuna; and that such special rate shall be an
annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and
be payable yearly on the first day of July in each year and
every year during the currency of such loan, being a period
of twenty-five years, or until the loan is fully paid for."

TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1953
PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the Te Awamutu
Borough Council at its meeting held on the 21st day of
May 1956 has resolved to prepare for the Te Awamutu
Borough a district scheme as required by the provisions of
the Town and Country Planning Act 1953.
Every person and every local authority in the district is
hereby invited to submit any proposals which, in his or its
opinion, should be considered in the preparation of the proposed scheme.
Proposals marked “Te Awamutu District Scheme” should
be addressed to the Town Clerk and delivered at the Town
Clerk’s office on or before the 7th day of September 1956.

OTAGO ELECTRIC POWER BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING A SPECIAL RATE
Rural Reticulation Loan 1956, £60,000
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926 and its
amendments, the Otago Electric Power Board hereby resolves
as follows:
"That, for the purpose of providing for the repayment of
the principal, interest, and other charges on the Board's Rural
Reticulation Loan 1956, £60,000, authorised to be raised by
the Otago Electric Power Board under the above-mentioned
Act for the purpose of further reticulating the inner area of
the Otago Electric Power District, the Otago Electric Power
Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of three-sixteenths
of a penny (3/16d.) in the pound on the capital rateable value
of all rateable property within the inner area of the Otago
Electric Power District (which includes portions of the
Counties of Bruce, Clutha, Tuapeka, Maniototo, Taieri, Waihemo, and Waikouaiti, together with the Boroughs of Naseby,
Balclutha, Lawrence, Kaitangata, Waikouaiti, and Palmerston),
and it is hereby further resolved that such special rate shall
be an annually recurring rate payable yearly on the 1st day of
April in each and every year during the currency of the said
Rural Reticulation Loan 1956, or until the said loan has been
fully repaid, and the special rate be and the same is hereby
appropriated and pledged as security for the repayment of the
said loan and for payment of interest thereon, and other
charges under the securities to be issued, in respect of the said
loan."
The above resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the
Otago Electric Power Board held on Tuesday, 20 March 1956.
