Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway

PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice as follows:

1. The public highways described in the Schedule hereto are hereby declared main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.
2. This notice shall come into force on the date of publication in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No 1

Opua Wharf: All that public highway in the County of Bay of Islands commencing at its junction with the Kawakawa-Opua-Pahia Main Highway No. 901 at the northern corner of Block XIX, Town of Newport, and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction to Opua Wharf, Block V, Russell Survey District, being a distance of 40 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 150530 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Waipu-Mangawai: All that portion of public highway in the Counties of Whangarei and Otamatea commencing at its junction with the Whangarei-Maungaturoto State Highway in Waipu Township adjacent to part Allotment 50, Waipu Parish, Block III, Waipu Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction and terminating at its junction with the Kaiwaka-Mangawai Main Highway adjacent to part Allotment 1, Mangawai Parish, Block III, Mangawai Survey District, being a distance of 15 miles, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 150531 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT NO. 5

Omahu-Oreka: All that public highway in the County of Hawke's Bay commencing at its junction with the Napier-Hastings via Fernhill Main Highway at Omahu, near Fernhill, at the south-western corner of Omahu No. 2H 2, Lot A Block, Block X, Heretaunga Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly and then north-westerly direction, terminating at the junction of a private road giving access to the "Oreka" Station, approximately 14 chains westward of the eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 7257, Block VIII, Matapiro Survey District, being a distance of 6 miles 45 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 150393 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Waione-Akitio: All that public highway in the County of Akitio commencing at Waione at its junction with Masterton-Weber via Alfredton Main Highway, between Sections 8 and 16, Town of Makukupara, Block III, Mount Cerberus Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction and terminating at Akitio River Bridge at its junction with the Pahiatau-Akitio via Pongaroa Main Highway at the eastern boundary of Section 15, Akitio Registration District, Block V, Waimata Survey District, being a distance of 17 miles 50 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 150455 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Greytown-Woodside: All that public highway in the County of Featherston commencing at the western boundary of the Borough of Greytown at the north-eastern corner of Section 51, Moroa Block, Block XIII, Tiffin Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction, and terminating near Woodside at its junction with Underhill Road, at the northern corner of Lot 7, D.P. 5509, part Section 41, Moroa Block, Block IX, Waiohine Survey District, being a distance of 2 miles 50 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 150456 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Also all that public highway in the Borough of Greytown commencing at its junction with the Masterton-Wellington State Highway between Sections 90 and 92, part Block "A", Greyston Small Farm Settlement, Block XIII, Tiffin Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction via Humphries Street and terminating at the western boundary of the said borough near the north-east corner of Section 51, Maroa Block, Block XIII, Tiffin Survey District, being a distance of 48 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 150456 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Awapuni: All that public highway in the County of Cook commencing at the boundary of the City of Gisborne at a point opposite the easternmost corner of Awapuni No. 1 Block in Block VI, Turanganui Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction and terminating at its junction with the Gisborne-Napier via Hangaroa State Highway adjacent to the western corner of Lot 4, D.P. 1089, in Block II, Turanganui Survey District, being a distance of 3 miles 10 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 150381 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
