PURSUANT to the Local Government Loans Board Act 1926, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby consents to the borrowing by the local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto by way of loan of the whole or any part of the respective amounts specified in that Schedule.

Major G. J. Austin, M.B.E., E.D., is granted an extension of his short-service engagement from 2 January 1956 to 28 June 1957.

Lieutenant (on prob.) J. O’B. Horsford to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 14 March 1954. Dated 23 March 1956.

Territorial Force

1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.

Captain J. E. Towle to be temp. Major. Dated 14 April 1956.

Captain P. A. Buddle, LL.B., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, in the rank of Captain. Dated 31 March 1956.

Captain S. H. Abbott, E.D., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, in the rank of Captain. Dated 14 April 1956.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) H. J. Blick, from the 5th Light Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be Lieutenant (temp. Captain), with seniority as Lieutenant 9 May 1950, and as temp. Captain 1 April 1952. Dated 15 May 1956.

Lieutenant T. G. Meachen, from the 5th Light Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 28 August 1955. Dated 15 May 1956.

Captain J. R. Caldwell ceases to be attached to the Southland Boys’ High School Cadets, and is attached to the Naenae College Cadets. Dated 24 April 1956.

Captain J. R. Caldwell, attached to the Naenae College Cadets, is transferred to the Divisional Counter Bombardment Staff Troop, H.Q., R.A., N.Z. Division. Dated 24 May 1956.

Major R. Q. Short, E.D., from the 14th Composite Anti-aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be Major, with seniority from 1 February 1952. Dated 1 April 1956.

Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) B. L. Burns, E.D., to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 1 November 1955.

Lieutenant-Colonel B. L. Burns, E.D., relinquishes the appointment of C.O., and is transferred to the 12th Heavy Anti-aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A. Dated 1 April 1956.

Army Service Corps, is granted a short-service Regular commission for a term of twelve months, in the rank of Major, and is appointed a Military Observer with the United Nations Palestine Truce Supervision Organisation. Dated 5 June 1956.

2nd Lieutenant Alexander Joseph MacLeod, from the 1st Armoured Car Regiment (New Zealand Scottish), R.N.Z.A.C., is granted a short-service Regular commission for an initial period of three years, in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 11 June 1956.
