Varying a Proclamation Declaring Parts of New Zealand to be a Tribal District Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945

A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 6 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby vary a Proclamation dated 17 October 1951 and published in the Gazette on 1 November 1951, at page 1631, declaring parts of New Zealand to be a Tribal District under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945, by deleting from the Schedule thereto the description of the Te Au-O-Waikato Tribal District, and substituting therefor the description appearing in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
“TE AU-O-WAIKATO TRIBAL DISTRICT
“ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at the confluence of the Mangawara Stream with the Komakorau Stream in Block IV, Newcastle Survey District; then proceeding north-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 1230 (Pukewhau) in Block V, Hapuakohe Survey District, a right line to Trig. Station 2043 (Ratamaroke) in Block XV, Piako Survey District, and a right line to Trig. Station 2042 (Ratawera) in Block XV, Piako Survey District, being a point on the boundary of the Waikato County as described in the Gazette of 1949 at page 2500; then southerly generally along that county boundary to the northernmost corner of section 1s, Tainui Settlement, being a point on the boundary of the Piako County as described in the Gazette of 1945 at page 257; then easterly, south-easterly, and north-easterly generally along that county boundary to the easternmost point of the Borough of Te Aroha as described in the Gazette of 1917 at page 1868; then northerly along a right line to Trig. Station 567 (Te Aroha) on the westernmost corner of Block XI, Katikati Survey District; then north-easterly along a right line in the direction of Trig. Station Ma (Ngakuriawharei) on the north-western boundary of Block II, Katikati North Survey District, to its junction with the north-eastern boundary of the original Aroha Block as shown on the Maori Land Court Plan No. 3062, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland; then south-easterly along the last-mentioned boundary, to and along the western boundary of a Forest Reserve, to its junction with the north-western boundary of Whakamarama No. 2 Block; then south-westerly along the south-eastern and southern boundaries of Maurihoro A Block to the eastern boundary of Section 11, Block XI, Wairere Survey District; then southerly along that boundary and its production to the middle of the Wairere Stream; then down the middle of that stream to and up the middle of the Waihou River to its intersection with the production of a right line between the south-eastern corner of Section 55, Matamata Settlement, in Block II, Tapapa Survey District, and the north-eastern corner of Section 31, Matamata Settlement; then south-westerly to and along the said right line to the south-eastern corner of Section 55 aforesaid; then south-westerly and north-westerly generally along Gunns Road and Peria Road to the south-western corner of Lot 23, D.P. 1297, part Puketutu 1 Block; then westerly along a right line to the intersection of the production of the south-western boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 14276, part of Te Pae O Turawaru No. 2 Block, with the middle of the Piakonui Stream, being a point on the boundary of the Matamata County as described in the Gazette of 1950 at page 275; then north-westerly and south-westerly generally along that county boundary to the southernmost corner of Section 3, Block VI, Cambridge Survey District; then south-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station Y (Opuahau) in Block X, Cambridge Survey District; then south-westerly along a right line in the direction of Trig. Station 52 (Pukekura) in Block XIV, Cambridge Survey District, to the middle of the Waikato River; then north-westerly down the middle of that river to the eastern boundary of the Borough of Cambridge as described in the Gazette of 1886 at page 985; then northerly, westerly, and southerly along the eastern, northern, and western boundaries of that borough to the middle of the Waikato River; then north-westerly generally down the middle of that river to and up the middle of the Mangaonua Stream to a point in line with the north-eastern side of Lisettes Road; then north-westerly to and along that side of Lisettes Road to and along the north-eastern side of Ruakura Station Road to the north-western corner of Lot 1 on the plan numbered 4472, deposited as aforesaid; then north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of Lots 1, 2, and 3 on the said plan numbered 4472, and Lot 4A on the plan numbered 3916, deposited as aforesaid, to the northernmost corner of the said Lot 4A; then north-westerly along a right line to the intersection of the southern boundary of Block VI, Komakorau Survey District, with the middle of the Komakorau Stream; then down the middle of that stream to its confluence with the Mangawara Stream, the point of commencement.”
