This book supplies a long-felt want in this country by pro-

function and the conditions necessary for their growth.
Wherever possible technical terms have been avoided, and
those essential to a proper understanding of the subject have
been fully explained. Over one hundred illustrations contribute
to a clear exposition of the subject. As a result, although the
book is primarily intended for use in schools and colleges, it is
also suitable for farmers, orchardists, horticulturists, and home
gardeners.
