Declaring Land Taken for a Government Work and Not Required for That Purpose to be Crown Land
PURSUANT to section 35 of the Public Works Act 1928, the Minister of Works hereby declares the land described in the Schedule hereto to be Crown land subject to the Land Act 1948 as from the 30th day of April 1956.

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940
PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:
A motor driver's licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, to the persons described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorise them to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of their employment for the employers described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorise them, while they are under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Approval of Testing Officer Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940
PURSUANT to regulation 5 of the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby approves of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being a testing officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

Election of European Representative to the Rarotonga Island Council
PURSUANT to the Cook Islands Rarotonga Election Regulations 1922,

was duly elected as the European representative on the Island Council of Rarotonga on the 16th day of March 1956.

Special Order Made by the Castlepoint County Council Altering Riding Boundaries
PURSUANT to section 100 of the Counties Act 1920, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act 1921/22, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following Special Order made by the Castlepoint County Council, and fixes the 26th day of April 1956 as the date on which the said Special Order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER
IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act 1920, the Castlepoint County Council hereby resolves by way of Special Order as follows:
(1) The present division of the county into four ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into three
ridings, to be called respectively the Annedale Riding, the Whakataki Riding, and the Langdale Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.
(2) The said Castlepoint County Council shall consist of six members who shall be elected as follows: two members for each of the three ridings, viz., Whakataki, Annedale, and Langdale.

WHAKATAKI RIDING
All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block XIII, Owahanga Survey District, on the boundary of the Castlepoint County as described in the New Zealand Gazette 1925, at page 718, in the middle of the Pakowhai River in line with the western boundary of Section 477, Whareama Block; thence easterly and southerly along the boundary of the Castlepoint County to a point on the sea coast in line with the southern boundary of Section 354, Whareama Block, situated in Block XI, Castlepoint S.D.; thence north-westerly generally to and along the southern boundaries of Sections 354 and 353, Whareama Block, the southern and western boundaries of Section 803, Whareama Block, the south-western boundary of Section 802, Whareama Block, the southern boundary of Sections 800 and 795, Whareama Block, the south-eastern and southern boundary of Section 383, Whareama Block; thence along the southern and south-western boundaries of Section 384 and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the Whareama River; thence northerly down the middle of the said river to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 248, Whareama Block, being a point on the boundary of the Annedale Riding hereinbefore described to a point in the middle of the Pakowhai River, in line with the western boundary of Section 477, Whareama Block, being the point of commencement.
