PURSUANT to section 16 of the New Zealand Army Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army:

GENERALS' LIST

Major-General W. G. Gentry, C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., is posted to the Retired List. Dated 19 March 1956.

HEADQUARTERS, 3RD INFANTRY BRIGADE

Captain N. S. Murchison, LL.B., 3rd Armoured Regiment, to be temp. Major. Dated 1 October 1955.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY

Regular Force
Captain (temp. Major) A. J. Holland to be Major. Dated 26 January 1956.
Captain P. W. F. Joplin to be temp. Major. Dated 27 February 1956.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) A. W. F. Davey, Huntly District High School Cadets, is attached as a Category "A" Officer. Dated 1 November 1955.

6th Light Anti-aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A.

Captain K. R. Huband, LL.B., is transferred to Headquarters, R.A., N.Z. Division. Dated 5 October 1955.

11th Coast Regiment, R.N.Z.A.

George Webster Macfarlane to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 24 September 1955.

151st Anti-aircraft Battery, R.N.Z.A.

Lieutenant H. A. L. Laing, from the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 1 March 1948. Dated 18 April 1955.

THE ROYAL N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS

Regular Force

Captain (temp. Major) John Wallace Bateman, M.M., from the 1st Divisional Signals Regiment, R.N.Z. Sigs., is granted a short-service commission, with the rank of Major, for an initial period of eighteen months, and is appointed a Military Observer with the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan. Dated 23 February 1956.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) P. B. Penlington relinquishes the temp. rank of Captain. Dated 25 March 1956.

1st Divisional Signals Regiment, R.N.Z. Sigs.
Captain (temp. Major) J. W. Bateman, M.M., is transferred to the N.Z. Regular Force. Dated 23 February 1956.
Captain D. J. H. Meredith, M.B., CH.B., R.N.Z.A.M.C., relinquishes the appointment of R.M.O., 1st Divisional Signals Regiment, R.N.Z. Sigs., and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Army Medical Corps, with the rank of Captain. Dated 31 October 1955.
