APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE FOR A BRANCH WATER RACE

UNDER THE MINING ACT 1926

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District at Cromwell.
PURSUANT to the Mining Act 1926, the undersigned HORACE JAMES BRYANT, of Alexandra, Farmer, hereby applies for a licence for a branch water race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 18 February 1956, at 11 a.m.
Date and number of miner’s right: 17 February 1956, No. 91906.
Address for service: Care of Bodkin, Sunderland & Depree, Solicitors, Alexandra.
Dated at Alexandra this 23rd day of February 1956.

SCHEDULE

Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points; also description of land traversed—e.g., unalienated Crown land, private land, or otherwise: Commencing in the concrete dam situated on the private land held by Vincent Charles Woodhouse, being Lot 3, plan 7322, Leaning Rock Survey District, and running in an easterly direction for 120 ft. along a pipe line consisting of 3½ in. pipes; thence following an inch pipe line for a distance of 300 ft. passing through Section 102, Block VII, Leaning Rock Survey District, and the special site now applied for and terminating at the land of applicant, being Section 103, Block VII, Leaning Rock Survey District.
Length and intended course of race: 420 ft.
Points of intake: In the concrete dam above mentioned.
Estimated time and cost of construction: Already constructed.
Mean depth and breadth: 120 ft. of 3½ in. pipe and 300 ft. of 1 in. pipe.
Number of heads to be diverted: Water to be pumped into the dam from the pumping site now applied for.
Purpose for which water is to be used: Domestic and irrigation purposes.
Proposed term of licence: Twenty-one years.

Time and place appointed for the hearing of the application and all objections thereto: Wednesday, the 16th day of May 1956, at 10 a.m., at the Warden’s Court, Cromwell.
Objections must be filed in the Registrar’s office and notified to applicant at least three days before the time so appointed.

FEATHERSTON COUNTY COUNCIL

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND

In the matter of the Counties Act 1920, and in the matter of the Public Works Act 1928.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Featherston County Council proposes under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts to execute a certain public work (namely the realignment and widening of a public road), and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken; and notice is hereby further given that a plan of the lands so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Clerk to the said Council, situate at Kitchener Street, Martinborough, and is open for inspection without fee by all persons during ordinary office hours.
All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such lands who have any well grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands must state their objections in writing and send the same within forty days from the first publication of this notice to the County Clerk at the Council Chambers, Kitchener Street, Martinborough.

Approximate area of land required to be taken: 18 perches, being portion of Gethsemene 7A 3, Block XIV, situated in Huangarua Survey District; coloured orange on plan.
Situated in the County of Featherston.

NOTICE is hereby given that by extraordinary resolution dated 28 March 1956, the above company has resolved:
“That in view of the fact that the company cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business, it be wound up voluntarily. and that Malcolm John Mason, of Wellington, Public Accountant, be and is hereby appointed liquidator.”
In accordance with the provisions of section 300 (7) of the Companies Act 1933 notice is hereby given that a meeting of creditors will be held in Room 418, Colonial Mutual Life Building, Customhouse Quay, Wellington, on Monday, 16 April 1956.
