Alterations to the Scales of Charges Upon the New Zealand Government Railways

Pursuant to the Government Railways Act 1949, the New Zealand Railways Commission hereby makes the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges made on the 26th day of March 1952 and published in the Supplement dated the 9th day of April 1952 to the New Zealand Gazette of the 3rd day of April 1952, and to the Local Rates Scale of Charges made on the 4th day of May 1954 and published in the Supplement dated the 12th day of May 1954 to the New Zealand Gazette of the 6th day of May 1954, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways.

GENERAL SCALE OF CHARGES

PASSENGERS

  1. Miscellaneous Concession Fares

Paragraph 6: Omit this paragraph.

  1. School Season Tickets

Paragraph 2, Availability: Omit this paragraph, and substitute the following:

  1. Availability.-School season tickets are available for use by the holders only when travelling to or from school for the purpose of receiving tuition or attending school functions approved by the Department. Unless endorsed "Evening" at the time of issue or unless supported on each journey by a certificate from the principal of the school that later attendance at school was necessary for tuition or for an approved function, they will not be available for travel by trains scheduled to leave the joining station after 6 p.m. If used for any purpose other than the foregoing they will be forfeited. They are not transferable. School season tickets will not be issued for distances exceeding 60 miles.

  2. Free School Season Tickets

Paragraph 3, Tickets Not Transferable: Omit this paragraph, and substitute the following:

  1. Paragraph 9, subparagraph (c), Road Rates: Omit the schedule of rates shown in this subparagraph, and substitute the following:
