Compulsory Stoppage of Certain Vehicles at Railway Crossing—Provision of Exemptions

Pursuant to section 46A of the Transport Act 1949 (as inserted by section 11 of the Transport Amendment Act 1953 and as amended by section 12 of the Transport Amendment (No. 2) Act 1953), the Minister of Transport hereby declares that nothing in subsection (1) of the said section 46A shall apply with respect to the railway crossings or classes of railway crossings described in the Schedule hereto.

SITUATED WITHIN RICCARTON BOROUGH

THAT level crossing of the Picton–Christchurch Main Trunk Railway line by Riccarton Road.

Approval of Red Reflectors for Motor Vehicles in Terms of the Traffic Regulations 1936

Pursuant to clause (26) of regulation 7, and clause (10) of regulation 16 of the Traffic Regulations 1936,* the Minister of Transport hereby approves for the purposes of the said regulations, red reflectors of the make and type described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

TAIL lamp lenses incorporating red reflectors fitted as standard equipment to Volkswagen vehicles and marked Hella K1564.

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

Pursuant to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:

A motor driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940 to the persons described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorise them to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of their employment for the employers described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorise them, while they are under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

Pursuant to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:

A motor driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, to the persons described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorise them to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of their employment for the employers described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorise them, while they are under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 2) 1956

Pursuant to regulation 15 of the Import Control Regulations 1938,* the Minister of Customs hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 2) 1956.

(2) This notice shall come into force on the 9th day of March 1956.

  1. Goods of the class specified in the First Schedule hereto, imported from and being the produce or manufacture of any country other than the countries specified in the Second Schedule hereto, are hereby exempted from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations.

Special Arrangements for the Provision of Medical and Pharmaceutical Services for the Residents of Mangakino Special Area

Pursuant to section 82 of the Social Security Act 1938, the Minister of Health has made special arrangements by which all persons for the time being resident in the district described in the Schedule hereto are, on and after the 12th day of March 1956, entitled to receive without charge at the hands of Liam Hugh Wright, Registered Medical Practitioner, John Heriot Seddon, Registered Medical Practitioner, or such other registered medical practitioners as may be at any time appointed for the purpose, all such medical and pharmaceutical requirements as are provided as benefits in accordance with the Social Security (Medical Benefits) Regulations 1941* and the Social Security (Pharmaceutical Supplies) Regulations 1941†.

The notice dated 15 November 1954, published in the Gazette, 2 December 1954, Vol. III, page 1971, relating to special arrangements for the residents of the district described in the Schedule thereto, is hereby cancelled.

MANGAKINO SPECIAL AREA

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District comprising portions of the Counties of Matamata, Taupo, Taumarunui, and Otorohanga, bounded by a line commencing at the north-western corner of Block XIII, Patetere South Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly along a right line to Trig Station 1001, Whakamaru, in Block VIII, Whakamaru Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to the mouth of the Waihora Stream on Lake Taupo, thence south-westerly along a right line to Trig Station 2017, Hingarae, in Block II, Karangahape Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line to Trig Station 1774, Titiraupenga, in Block I, Marotiri Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line to Trig Station 1548, in Block XVI, Wharepapa Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to the point of commencement.
