The Public Trust Office (Investment Agencies in Common
Fund) Notice 1956

PURSUANT to section 48 of the Finance Act 1932, the
Minister of Finance hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Public Trust Office
    (Investment Agencies in Common Fund) Notice 1956.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the 20th day of
    February 1956.
  2. The rate of interest that may be paid by the Public
    Trustee on moneys invested by the Public Trustee as agent of
    any principal in the Common Fund of the Public Trust Office
    pursuant to section 16 of the Public Trust Office Amendment
    Act 1913, shall be three and a quarter per cent per annum.
  3. Nothing in this notice shall be deemed to affect the rate
    of interest that may be paid on any moneys so invested before
    the date of the coming into force of this notice.

Notice by the Public Trustee Under the Public Trust Office
Act 1908 (Part III) and its Amendments

WHEREAS the owner of a certain parcel of 88 stock
units of £1 each (fully paid) in Pacific Forests Limited
is not known, and whereas the value of such parcel of 88
stock units does not exceed one thousand pounds (£1,000),
and whereas Part III of the Public Trust Office Act 1908, and
its amendments provides (inter alia) that when it is not
known who the owner of any real or personal property is
and the value of such real or personal property does not
exceed one thousand pounds (£1,000) and that the exercise
of the powers set out in section 87 of the said Act is advisable
in the interests of such owner or of any other person, the
Public Trustee may by notice in the Gazette declare his
intention to take possession of such property and to exercise
the powers conferred upon him by the said section 87 of the
Public Trust Office Act 1908, and may thereafter exercise
such powers without application to the Supreme Court.
Now the Public Trustee hereby gives notice that pursuant
to Part III of the said Act he intends to take possession of
the property above mentioned and to exercise in respect
thereof the powers conferred upon him under and by virtue
of the provisions of the said section 87 of the Public Trust
Office Act 1908, as amended by section 21 of the Finance
Act (No. 2) 1936.

Unclaimed Lands—Notice by the Public Trustee Under the
Public Trust Office Act 1908 and its Amendments

To the owner of the following land, that is to say: All that
parcel of land containing two roods (2r.), more or less,
situate in the District of Malvern, being part of Lot 1 on
Deposited Plan No. 244, and part of Rural Section
11129, and being the whole of the land comprised in certificate
of title, Volume 77, folio 55, Canterbury Registry, in
the name of William Reid Bell, of Formby, Tasmania,
Civil Engineer.

WHEREAS, after due inquiry, the owner of the above-
described land cannot be found, and whereas the said
owner has no known agent in New Zealand, now the Public
Trustee hereby calls upon such owner, within six months of
the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, to
establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his title to
the said land, and if he fails or neglects so to do the Public
Trustee will exercise as regards the said land the powers and
authorities granted to him in and by the Public Trust Office
Act 1908 (Part II) and its amendments.
