Appointment of Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the Service of Notices by Telegraph

PURSUANT to section 183 of the Post and Telegraph Act 1928, the Minister of Telegraphs hereby declares that the officers whose names are set out in the Schedule hereto are authorized to sign certificates of the service of telegraphic copies of notices for the purposes of sections 179 to 184 of that Act, and hereby appoints those officers to be transmitting officers and receiving officers, at the addresses specified after their names in the Schedule hereto, for the purposes of those sections and of the regulations for the time being in force under that Act relating to the service of notices by telegraph.

Varying a Notice Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1944

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945, the Minister of Maori Affairs hereby varies a notice made on the 13th day of January 1949 and published in the Gazette, 20 January 1949, page 57, No. 2, declaring a part of the Westland Tribal District to be a tribal committee area by deleting from the Schedule thereto the description of the Arahura Tribal Committee Area and substituting therefor the descriptions appearing in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

ARAHURA TRIBAL COMMITTEE AREA

All that area in the County of Westland bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Taramakau River; thence proceeding up the middle of that river to its source and along a straight line to the summit of the Southern Alps; thence south-westerly generally along the summit of the Southern Alps to Mount Ballance; thence westerly along a straight line passing through Trig. Station CR in Block VII, Waitaha Survey District, to the sea coast; thence north-easterly along the sea coast to the mouth of the Taramakau River, the point of commencement.

MAHITAHITRI TRIBAL COMMITTEE AREA

All that area in the County of Westland bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea coast on the production of a straight line from Mount Ballance on the summit of the Southern Alps to Trig. Station CR in Block VII, Waitaha Survey District; thence proceeding to and along that straight line to Mount Ballance; thence south-westerly generally along the summit of the Southern Alps to Mount Aspiring; thence westerly along a straight line to the mouth of the Awarua River in Big Bay; thence north-easterly along the sea coast to the point of commencement.

Declaring Waimate Domain to be a Recreation Reserve Subject to Part II of the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, and Revoking the Reservation Over the Said Land

PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby declares that the Waimate Domain described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to Part III of the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, and shall be deemed to be a recreation reserve subject to Part II of that Act, and further, revokes the reservation for recreation purposes over the said land.

PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby declares that the Albert Town Domain described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to Part III of the Reserves and Domains Act, 1953, and shall be deemed to be a recreation reserve subject to Part II of that Act.

PURSUANT to the Land Act 1948, the Minister of Lands hereby sets apart the land described in the Schedule hereto as a reserve for a site for a sub-station and service-man’s cottage, and further, pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, vests the said reserve in the North Canterbury Electric Power Board, in trust, for that purpose.
