Varying a Notice Declaring Parts of Tribal Districts to be Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945, the Minister of Maori Affairs hereby varies a notice published in Gazette, 8 January 1948, page 17, declaring parts of the Kahungunu Tribal District to be tribal committee areas by deleting from the Schedule thereto the descriptions of the Te Reinga, Whakaki, and Fraser-town Tribal Committee Areas and substituting therefor the descriptions appearing in the Schedule hereto.

EREPEI TRIBAL COMMITTEE AREA
ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the northern side of the Waikaremoana-Gisborne Road with the production northerly of the eastern boundary of Block VI, Hangaroa Survey District thence proceeding westerly generally along the northern side of the said road to the middle of the Kawaimango Stream in Block I, Hangaroa Survey District; thence south-westerly up the middle of that stream to the eastern boundary of Lot 21 of Tahora 2r Section 2 Block; thence northerly along that boundary and the eastern boundary of Lot 24 of Tahora 2c 1 Section 3 Block; thence westerly generally along the northern boundary of that block, the northern boundary of Lot 2½ of Tahora 2c 1 Section 3 Block; thence north-westerly and southerly along the north-eastern and western boundaries of Lot 18 of Tahora 2r Section 2 Block, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to its intersection with a right line between Trig. ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the northern boundary of Block XIII, Tuahu Survey District, and the south-eastern side of the road forming the north-western boundary of Section 3, Block X, Tuahu Survey District; thence proceeding southerly along the generally eastern side of that road forming the western boundaries of Sections 3 and 4, Block XIII, Tuahu Survey District, passing through Matukuhia Maori Reserve, and forming the south-western boundary of Small Grazing Run 81; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of Whataroa Maori Reserve No. 5 and its production to the middle of the Whataroa River; thence down the middle of that river and the Mangaruhe River to its intersection with the generally eastern side of Ohura Road; thence south-westerly generally along that side of Ohaka Road to Hints Road; thence south-easterly generally along the north-eastern and northern sides of Hints Road to its intersection with the middle of the Mangaruhe River; thence down the middle of that river to and up the middle of the Wairoa River, the Mangapoke River, and the Manga-rangiora Stream to the northernmost corner of Mangapoke No. 2p Block, in Block IV, Opoti Survey District, and a right line to the north-western corner of Whakaongonga 2s 2 Block; thence north-westerly, northerly, and north-easterly generally along the generally eastern side of the road forming the south-western boundaries of Sections 46, 45, 44, 51, again 44, and 48, all of Block XVI, Hangaroa Survey District, Section 3, Block XII, of that survey district, Section 1, parts 5, 6, 10, 8, part 3, part 2, the southern boundary of part Section 21, all of Block VIII, Hangaroa Survey District, and the south-eastern boundary of part Hangaroa-Matawai No. 2c Block; thence south-westerly along the north-western side of the road forming the north-western boundary of Hangaroa Village and the production of that side to the middle of the Hangaroa River; thence down the middle of that river to a point in line with the generally northern side of the Waikaremoana-Gisborne Road; thence westerly generally to and along the northern side of that road to its intersection with the production northerly of the eastern boundary of Block VI, Hangaroa Survey District, being a point on the boundary of the Erepei Tribal Committee Area hereinbefore described; thence southerly and easterly generally along the boundary of that area to the point of commencement.
