Declaring Lands in Hawke’s Bay Land District to be a Water Area for the Purposes of Section 50 of the Land Act 1948

Pursuant to subsection (6) of section 50 of the Land Act 1948, the Land Settlement Board hereby declares the lands described in the Schedule hereto (being lands on which waterworks are erected or are intended to be erected for the supply of water to the said lands) to be a water area for the purposes of the said section.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT

Sections 11, 12, 13, and 14, Block VII, Section 27, Block VIII, and Section 14, Block XI, Maungaharuru Survey District: Total area, 1,503 acres 3 roods 30 perches, more or less. (S.O. Plan 2777.)

Also Section 29, Block VIII, Maungaharuru Survey District: Area, 3 acres 3 roods 14·3 perches, more or less. Part certificate of title, Volume 133, folio 109. (S.O. Plan 2727.)

In terms of section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926, I have to inform you that a poll of ratepayers of Kapiti Riding was held on Saturday, 20 August 1955.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was …… 54
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 137

The majority of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll were against the proposal. I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Oparure Development Scheme)

Pursuant to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 12 May 1931 and published in the Gazette, 14 May 1931, Volume II, page 1464.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Waihi taken on the 4th day of August 1955 on the proposal of the Waihi Borough Council to borrow the sum of £36,700 for the purpose of carrying out roads improvement works the voting was as follows:

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was …… 147
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 199

I therefore declare that the proposal was lost.
