Appointment of Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the Service of Notices by Telegraph

PURSUANT to section 183 of the Post and Telegraph Act 1928, the Minister of Telegraphs hereby declares that the officers whose names are set out in the Schedule hereto are authorized to sign certificates of the service of telegraphic copies of notices for the purposes of sections 179 to 184 of that Act, and hereby appoints those officers to be transmitting officers and receiving officers, at the addresses specified after their names in the Schedule hereto, for the purposes of those sections and of the regulations for the time being in force under that Act relating to the service of notices by telegraph.*

Poukawa Drainage Area—Notice of Intention to Make and Levy General Rates, and Notice of Amendment of Annually Recurring Special Rates
———
NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Swamp Drainage Act 1915 and its amendments, to make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the Poukawa Drainage Area constituted under the said Act, the general rates described in the Second Schedule hereto to meet maintenance costs for the period 1 April 1955 to 31 March 1956.
Notice is also given that, pursuant to the said Act and its amendments, the annually recurring special rates made and levied on 30 March 1933, and payable on 30 August in each year on the unimproved value of all land within the Poukawa Drainage Area have been amended as from 1 April 1955 to the amounts in the First Schedule hereto.
The amount of the general rates will be payable in one sum on 30 August 1955, together with the amount of the annually recurring special rates already made and levied.
The Valuation Roll of the area will be open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Room 8, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Post Office Buildings, Napier, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

FIRST SCHEDULE
SPECIAL RATES
CLASS A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act 1928, twelve pence and seventy one-hundredths of a penny (12·70d.) in the pound.
CLASS B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, two pence and twelve one-hundredths of a penny (2·12d.) in the pound.
CLASS C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, forty-two one-hundredths of a penny (0·42d.) in the pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE
GENERAL RATES
CLASS A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act 1928, ten pence and twenty-two one-hundredths of a penny (10·22d.) in the pound.
CLASS B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, one penny and seventy one-hundredths of a penny (1·70d.) in the pound.
CLASS C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, thirty-four one-hundredths of a penny (0·34d.) in the pound.

Rangitaiki Land Drainage District—Notice of Making and Levying Rates
———
PURSUANT to the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act 1910 and its amendments, the Minister of Lands hereby makes and levies on the unimproved value of all land within the district constituted under the said Act, the general rates to meet maintenance costs for the period 1 April 1955 to 31 March 1956 as described in the Schedule hereto.
The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on 30 August 1955, together with the amount of the annually recurring special rates already made and levied, to the Collector of Rates, Room 8, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland.
The rate book of the district will be open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, and a copy of same may be inspected at the Land Drainage Office of the Ministry of Works at Thornton, near Whakatane, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

CLASS B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, fivepence and thirty-seven one-hundredths of a penny (5·37d.) in the pound.
CLASS C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, twopence and sixty-nine one-hundredths of a penny (2·69d.) in the pound.
CLASS D: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class D, ninety one-hundredths of a penny (0·90d.) in the pound.
