Declaring Land Acquired for a Government Work and Not
Required for That Purpose to be Crown Land

PURSUANT to section 35 of the Public Works Act 1928,
the Minister of Works hereby declares the land described
in the Schedule hereto to be deemed to have been Crown land
subject to the Land Act 1948 as from the 29th day of
April 1955.
——
SCHEDULE
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land declared Crown land:
3 roods.
Being Lots 87, 89, and 91, D.P. 331, being part Burial
Section 30314, situated in Block VII, Saxton Survey District,
and being part of the land comprised and described in certificate
of title, Volume 518, folio 236, Canterbury Land Registry.

Retention of Title of “Honourable”
——
IT is hereby notified that Her Majesty the Queen has been
pleased to approve of the retention of the title of
“Honourable” by the Hon. Ernst Peterson Hay, lately a
Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand.

Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 3) 1955
——
PURSUANT to regulation 15 of the Import Control Regulations
1938,* the Minister of Customs hereby gives notice as follows:
- (1) This notice may be cited as the Import Control Exemption
Notice (No. 3) 1955.
(2) This notice shall come into force on the 3rd day of June
1955.
- Goods of the classes specified in the First Schedule hereto,
imported from and being the produce or manufacture of any country
other than the countries specified in the Second Schedule hereto,
are hereby exempted from the requirement of a licence under the
said regulations.

BOROUGH OF PAPATOETOE
Notice of Result of Poll—Stormwater Drainage Loan Proposal
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926,
I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the
Borough of Papatoetoe taken on the 21st day of May 1955
on the proposal of the Papatoetoe Borough Council to borrow
the sum of £245,000 (two hundred and forty-five thousand
pounds) for the provision of stormwater drainage for the
whole Borough and adequate outlets adjacent thereto—
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 153.
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 813.
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

BOROUGH OF FEILDING
Notice of Result of Poll to Raise Loan
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926,
I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the
Borough of Feilding, taken on the 11th day of May 1955,
on the proposal of the Feilding Borough Council to borrow
the sum of £40,000 for the purpose of meeting the balance of
the cost of erecting and furnishing a Civic Centre Building—
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 562.
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 159.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Reserve Bank of New Zealand
——
PURSUANT to section 45 of the Reserve Bank of New
Zealand Act 1933 (as amended by section 23 of the
Reserve Bank of New Zealand Amendment Act 1936), the
Governor of the Reserve Bank, acting with the authority of
the Minister of Finance, hereby gives notice that as from
2 June 1955 the balance to be maintained in the Reserve Bank
by each other bank for the time being carrying on business
in New Zealand in accordance with the said section 45 shall
be not less than the aggregate of 10½ per centum of its
demand liabilities in New Zealand, and 7½ per centum of its
time liabilities in New Zealand, as shown in the last preceding
monthly return furnished by that bank in accordance with
section 46 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1933.
