Appointment of Honorary Officers

Member of the Lyttelton Harbour Board Appointed

Pursuant to section 33 (2) of the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint
Alexander Arthur Macfarlane
to be a member of the Lyttelton Harbour Board as a representative of the electors of the combined district of the Counties of Cheviot, Amuri, Waipara, Kowai, and Ashley, in place of the Hon. John Kenneth McAlpine, resigned.

Scheme of Control of Dannevirke High School

Pursuant to the Education Act 1914, the Minister of Education hereby approves:

(a) Of Dannevirke High School being controlled in accordance with the scheme set out in the Schedule hereto;

(b) Of the revocation of the amended scheme of control of the school published in the New Zealand Gazette on 10 October 1929 at page 2616.

SCHEDULE

1. The scheme of control of the Dannevirke High School shall be the standard scheme of control for secondary schools published at page 3451 of Volume III of the New Zealand Gazette of the year 1928:
   Provided that the standard scheme shall be modified as hereafter provided in this Schedule.

2. The standard scheme shall be read as if the following clause were inserted therein after clause 9:

"9A. In the case of the member to be appointed by the Dannevirke County Council the appointment shall be made in accordance with the provisions of clauses 7 and 8 hereof as if the Council were the Council of a borough to which those clauses apply."

3. Clause 11 of the standard scheme shall be read as if the reference to the year 1929 were a reference to the year 1955.

4. Clause 16 of the standard scheme shall be read as if there were inserted, after the words "Borough Council" the words "or County Council".

5. Clause 19 of the standard scheme shall be read as if every reference to the year 1929 was a reference to the year 1957.

6. Clause 43 of the standard scheme shall be read as if the words "The Secretary shall be insured under a fidelity bond for a sum of not less than five hundred pounds" were omitted.

7. The members of the Board of Governors of Dannevirke High School at present in office shall retire on the 31st day of May 1955, and their successors elected or appointed as provided in the Dannevirke High School Board of Governors Order 1955 and in accordance with this scheme shall then come into office.
