Pursuant to section 15 of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments, promotions, extensions of commissions, transfers, cancellation, resignations, and terminations of commissions of officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

REGULAR AIR FORCE

Appointments

The undermentioned Cadet Officers are granted permanent commissions in the General Duties Branch, Regular Air Force, with the rank of Pilot Officer and with seniority as from the date shown after each name:

Sergeant John Clark Buckmaster (708262) is granted a short-service commission in the General Duties Branch, Regular Air Force, for a period of four years with the rank of Pilot Officer (on prob.) and with seniority as from date of appointment, to be followed by a period of four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. Dated 19 January 1955.

Transfers and Appointments

Flight Lieutenant Reginald Arthur McDonald (130568) is transferred from the Reserve of Air Force Officers and is granted a short-service commission in the General Duties Branch, Regular Air Force, for a period of two years with his present rank and with seniority as from date of appointment, to be followed by a period of four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. Dated 17 February 1955.

Flying Officer Peter Edward Cheal (132853) is transferred from the Reserve of Air Force Officers and is granted a short-service commission in the General Duties Branch, Regular Air Force, for a period of four years with his present rank and with seniority as from 14 December 1953, to be followed by a period of four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers.

Promotion

Flying Officer Stuart McIn tyre (73884) is granted the temporary rank of Flight Lieutenant. Dated 1 March 1955.

Extension of Commission

Flying Officer Trevor Ernest Woodfield, Dip. V.P.M., A.N.Z.T.V. (132540), is granted an extension of his present commission for the period 7 January 1955 to 12 February 1955 inclusive.

Cancellation of Commission

The commission of Acting Pilot Officer (on prob.) Bryan James Fitzgerald (816671) is cancelled. Dated 26 September 1954.

Amendments

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 41, dated 1 July 1954, page 1074, in so far as it relates to “Trevor Humphrey Jaffray” is hereby amended to read “to be followed by a period of four years in the Territorial Air Force and four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers” in lieu of “to be followed by a period of four years in the Air Force Reserve”.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 13, dated 24 February 1955, page 280, in so far as it relates to Acting Pilot Officers Michael Anthony Leefe, Robert William Marris, Malcolm Donal Niccol, and Peter James Gillespie Mardon is hereby amended to read “for the duration of flying training” in lieu of “for the duration of basic flying training”.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 6, dated 3 February 1955, page 113, in so far as it relates to “Flying Officer Te Waaka Hemi Monete” is hereby amended to read “11 October 1954” in lieu of “19 October 1954.”

Termination of Commission

Transfer and Appointment

Squadron Leader John William Gordon McDougall, M.B., B.S., D.P.H. (133670), is transferred from the Reserve of Air Force Officers and is granted a short-service commission in the Medical Branch, Regular Air Force, for a period of four years with the rank of Wing Commander and with seniority as from date of appointment, to be followed by a period of four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. Dated 5 January 1955.

Extension of Commission

Squadron Leader (temp.) Andrew Douglas Caird, M.B., Ch.B. (78534), is granted an extension of his present commission for the period 28 January 1954 to 7 December 1954 inclusive.

Transfer and Appointment

Flying Officer Leslie Manfred James Loader (77803) is transferred from the Reserve of Air Force Officers and is granted a short-service commission in the Education Branch, Regular Air Force, for a period of five years with his present rank and with seniority as from 19 January 1954, to be followed by a period of four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. Dated 19 January 1955.

Extension of Commission

Flight Lieutenant Alan Edward Law Burton, B.Sc. (74148), is granted an extension of his present commission for the period 12 December 1954 to 6 March 1955 inclusive.

WOMEN’S ROYAL NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE

Section Officer Gretchen Margaret Swap (née Blott) (70807) is granted an extension of her present commission for a period of two years. Dated 22 November 1953.

Section Officer Margery Gillian Honan (75135) is granted an extension of her present commission for a period of one year. Dated 12 November 1954.
