WHEREAS the Thames Borough Council has requested the Governor-General in Council to declare it to be a leasing authority within the meaning of the Public Bodies’ Leases Act 1908:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section 4 of the Public Bodies’ Leases Act 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby orders and declares that the Thames Borough Council is a leasing authority within the meaning of that Act.

Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways and Declaring Public Highways to be Main Highways

THE HON. W. SULLIVAN PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that on and after the date of this Order in Council the main highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways, and further declares that the roads described in the Second Schedule shall be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.
FIRST SCHEDULE
ROADS DISTRICT No. 2a
Tuakau-Pokeno via Whangarata.—All that portion of main highway in the Town District of Tuakau declared as the Tuakau-Pokeno via Whangarata Main Highway, described in Order in Council and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 21 January 1932.
Pukekohe-Glenmurray via Tuakau.—All that portion of main highway in the Town District of Tuakau declared as the Pukekohe-Glenmurray via Tuakau Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2 April 1928, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 5 April 1928.
Drury-Waiuku-Kohekohe.—All that portion of main highway in the Town District of Waiuku declared as the Drury-Waiuku-Kohekohe Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 19 April 1939, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 27 April 1939.
Puni-Waiuku via Otawa.—All that portion of main highway in the Town District of Waiuku declared as the Puni-Waiuku via Otawa Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2 October 1940, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 10 October 1940.
ROADS DISTRICT No. 14
Christchurch-Akaroa.—All that main highway or portion of main highway formerly in the Waimairi County and now within the City of Christchurch declared as the Christchurch-Akaroa Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 1 July 1929, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 4 July 1929, commencing at a point 1¼ chains south of the southern boundary of Whiteleigh Street at the old Christchurch City boundary in Block XV, Christchurch Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction to the southern boundary of Twigger Street on the old Christchurch City boundary, being a distance of 12 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 144721 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Picton-Christchurch.—All that main highway or portion of main highway formerly within the Waimairi County and now within the Christchurch City declared as the Picton-Christchurch Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2 October 1940, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 10 October 1940, commencing at the old Christchurch City boundary at a point opposite the north-western corner of D.P. 15432, Block VII, Christchurch Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction to the centre line of the said main highway at a point opposite D.P. 16479, Block VII, Christchurch Survey District, being a distance of 47 chains, more or less; then along the centre line of the said main highway in a northerly direction and terminating at the new Christchurch City boundary at a point opposite D.P. 11846, Block VII, Christchurch Survey District, being a distance of 27 chains, more or less; in total, a distance of 74 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 144722 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured brown.
Christchurch-Chaneyes via Marshlands.—All that main highway or portion of main highway formerly within the Waimairi County and now within the City of Christchurch declared as the Christchurch-Chaneyes via Marshlands Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 9 June 1924, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 12 June 1924, commencing at its junction with New Brighton Road at the old Christchurch City boundary in Block XI, Christchurch Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction and terminating at its junction with the centre line of Briggs Road at the new Christchurch City boundary in Block VII, Christchurch Survey District, being a distance of 76 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 144723 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Christchurch-New Brighton via Wainoni Road.—All that main highway or portion of main highway formerly within the Heathcote County and now within the City of Christchurch declared as the Christchurch-New Brighton via Wainoni Road Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2 April 1928, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 5 April 1928.
Christchurch-New Brighton via Pages Road.—All that main highway or portion of main highway formerly within the Heathcote County and now within the City of Christchurch declared as the Christchurch-New Brighton via Pages Road Main Highway, described in Orders in Council dated 2 April 1928 and 13 November 1934, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 5 April 1928 and 15 November 1934.
Marshlands-New Brighton.—All that main highway or portion of main highway formerly within the Waimairi County and now within the City of Christchurch declared as the Marshlands-New Brighton Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 7 October 1933, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 12 October 1933, commencing at its intersection with Marshland Road in Block XI, Christchurch Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in an easterly and then in a northerly direction along New Brighton Road and Bassett Street to the centre line of Travis Road, at the new Christchurch City boundary, being a distance of 2 miles 4 chains, more or less; then along the centre line of Travis Road in an easterly direction to its intersection with Frosts Road, being a distance of 43 chains, more or less; then in an easterly direction along Travis Road to its intersection with Bower Avenue at the old Christchurch City boundary in Block VIII, Christchurch Survey District, being a distance of 38 chains, more or less; being a total distance of 3 miles 5 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 144723 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Burwood-Marshlands.—All that main highway or portion of main highway formerly within the Waimairi County and now within the City of Christchurch declared as the Burwood-Marshlands Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 28 February 1940, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 7 March 1940, commencing at its junction with New Brighton Road in Block XII, Christchurch Survey District and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction to the centre line of Burwood Road, being a distance of 8 chains, more or less; then along the centre line of Burwood Road in a northerly direction and terminating at its junction with the centre line of Travis Road at the new Christchurch City boundary in Block VIII, Christchurch Survey District, being a distance of 43 chains, more or less; being a total distance of 51 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 144723 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Christchurch Northern Access (Tutton’s Road).—All that main highway or portion of main highway formerly within the Waimairi County and now within the Christchurch City declared as the Christchurch Northern Access (Tutton’s Road) Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 10 September 1952, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 18 September 1952, commencing at its intersection with the Picton-Christchurch Main Highway in Block VII, Christchurch Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction to the new Christchurch City boundary at the centre line of Tutton’s Road at a point opposite the south-western boundary of part Lot, D.P. 3295, Christchurch Survey District, being a distance of 11 chains, more or less; then along the centre line of Tutton’s Road to a point opposite the north-western corner of D.P. 13589, Christchurch Survey District, being a distance of 3 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 144722 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Also all that portion of the said Christchurch Northern Access (Tutton’s Road) Main Highway in Blocks VII and XI, Christchurch Survey District, commencing at the southern boundary of the old Christchurch City boundary at its intersection with McFadden’s Road, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction to the new Christchurch City boundary, being a distance of 15 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 144722 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
