Hauraki Plains Drainage District—Penalty on Overdue Rates
PURSUANT to section 76 of the Rating Act 1925 and the Hauraki Plains Act 1926, the ratepayers within the district constituted by the last-mentioned Act are hereby notified that 10 per cent additional will be added to all rates for the year ending 31 March 1954, unpaid on 15 March 1954.
Rates may be paid at any money-order office or to the Collector of Rates, Lands and Survey Department, P.O. Box 2205, Auckland C.1.

Land Vested in the New Plymouth City Council Declared to be a Public Reserve
NOTICE is hereby given that the following resolution was passed by the New Plymouth City Council pursuant to section 5 of the Public Reserves and Domains Act 1928 on the 29th day of October 1953, due notice of intention to pass such resolution having been given in terms of the said section, and no objections thereto received:
‘‘The New Plymouth City Council pursuant to the powers conferred upon it by section 5 of the Public Reserves and Domains Act 1928, hereby declares all that piece of land now vested in it for the purposes of a public abattoir, situated in the City of New Plymouth, containing 6 acres 1 rood 31·61 perches, more or less, being part Section 159, Hua District, and being part of the land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 50, folio 210 (Taranaki Registry), (the said piece of land being more particularly shown on a plan lodged in the Office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands as No. S.S. 8617) to be a public reserve within the meaning of the above-mentioned Act for the purposes of a recreation ground.’’
The land to which the foregoing resolution relates is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 48206/B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Exemption Orders Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940
PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:
A motor driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940 to the persons described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize them to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of their employment for the employers described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize them, while they are under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.
