Information about Radio Stations

The radio (on chart 1896 W.T.) station in position 36° 50′ 40″ S., 174° 46′ 05″ E. (approx.), has been discontinued and is to be expunged.

A radio station ‘‘R°’’ is to be inserted in position 36° 52′ 40″ S., 174° 54′ 50″ E.; on chart 1212, 36° 54′ 00″ S., 174° 56′ 00″ E.
Charts affected: 780, 788, 1212, 1970 (1); 1896, 2543, 3633, 3797.

Notice to Mariners No. 84 of 1954
NEW ZEALAND—SOUTH ISLAND
(1) Cape Campbell: Storm signals discontinued; radio beacon moved.
(i) The note about communications against Cape Campbell light (41° 43′ S., 174° 17′ E. approx.) (on chart 2178, plan, Cape Campbell, N.E. centre) is to be amended to ‘‘Telegraph and Signal Stn.’’.
(ii) The radio beacon at Cape Campbell light is to be moved to position 203° 4·8 cables from the light (on the plan of Cape Campbell to the position of the radio masts).
These amendments are being embodied in New Chart 695, to be published shortly. Chart 2054 is not being corrected as it will be withdrawn shortly.
Admiralty List of Radio Signals, Vol. II, will be amended in Weekly Edition of Notice to Mariners No. 37/54.
(2) Farewell Spit: Storm signals discontinued.
The note about communications against Farewell Spit light (40° 33′ S., 173° 01′ E. approx.) is to be amended to ‘‘Tel. & Sig. Stn.’’.
Charts affected: 2178 (1); 2529 (1); 2616 (2); 3629; 3634 (1, i).

Alteration to Call Sign
THE call sign of the following station transmitting weather broadcasts shown on page 8, New Zealand Nautical Almanac and Tide Tables, 1954, Vol. 2, has been altered as follows:
For ZLN3, substitute ZLM28.
The frequency of 14,850 kc/s is unaltered.

THE following Pacific danger areas can now be deleted from Admiralty charts:

Mariners are advised that although these danger areas will in future be omitted from Admiralty Notices to Mariners a remote risk may still exist.
