And whereas by the said Warrant you were required to report, not later than the 18th day of December 1953, your findings and opinions on the matters thereby referred to you, together with such recommendations as you should think fit to make in respect thereof:
And whereas by Warrant dated the 15th day of December 1953 the time within which you were so required to report was extended until the 30th day of April 1954:
And whereas by Warrant dated the 30th day of April 1954 the time within which you were so required to report was further extended until the 30th day of June 1954:
And whereas by Warrant dated the 30th day of June 1954 the time within which you were so required to report was again extended until the 31st day of August 1954:
And whereas it is expedient that the time for so reporting should be still further extended as hereinafter provided:
Now, therefore, I, Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby extend until the 30th day of November 1954 the time within which you are so required to report:
Provided always that the extension of time granted to you by these presents shall be without prejudice to the power conferred upon you by the said Warrant of the 23rd day of October 1953 to submit to me from time to time an interim report on any matter or matters arising in the course of your inquiry, together with such recommendations as you should think fit to make in respect thereof:
And in further exercise of the said powers and authorities, and acting by and with the like advice and consent, I do hereby confirm the said Warrant of the 23rd day of October 1953, and the Commission thereby constituted, save as modified by the said Warrants of extension dated the 15th day of December 1953, the 30th day of April 1954, and the 30th day of June 1954 respectively, and by these presents.
Given in Executive Council, under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 1st day of September 1954.

Exempting Land in the Southland Land District from the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925

PURSUANT to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby gives the following notice.
NOTICE
THE land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area of land containing 39·7 perches, more or less, being Lot 33 on D.P. 4361, being part of Section 94, Block III, Wairio Survey District, and being part of the land in certificate of title, Volume 155, folio 103, Southland Registry, excepting, however, all mines, seams, and beds of coal now lying in or under the said piece of land.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 27th day of August 1954.

Captain F. C. Preston, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), relinquishes the appointment of Camp Commandant, Headquarters, 1st Infantry Brigade, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 8 August 1954.
Lieutenant C. S. Baker, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), is appointed Brigade Headquarters Company Commander, Headquarters, 1st Infantry Brigade, and is seconded. Dated 12 August 1954.
