Authorizing the Laying-off of a Street off Kellys Road in the City of Christchurch, Subject to a Condition as to the Building Line

At the Government House at Wellington, this 11th day of August 1954

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act 1953 and section 125 of the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorizes the Christchurch City Council to permit the laying-off of the proposed street described in the Schedule hereto at a width for the whole of its length of less than 66 ft., but not less than 40 ft., subject to the condition that no building or part of a building shall at any time be erected on the land shown edged green on the plan marked P.W.D. 143967, referred to in the said Schedule, within a distance of 40 ft. from the centre line of the said street.

SCHEDULE.

THAT proposed street in the Canterbury Land District, City of Christchurch, containing by admeasurement 17·7 perches, more or less, being part Lot 2, D.P. 15707, being part Rural Section 1071.

As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 143967, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Setting Apart Maori Land as a Maori Reservation

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation for the purpose of a recreation ground for the common use of the members of the Ngatirua-mahue subtribe living at Wainui.

Declaring Portions of Mount Cook National Park to be Administered Under the Provisions of the Tourist and Health Resorts Control Act 1908

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 10 of the National Parks Act 1952, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that the lands described in the Schedule hereto, being portions of Mount Cook National Park, shall as from the date hereof be administered under the provisions of the Tourist and Health Resorts Control Act 1908, but otherwise shall remain part of the said Park.

SCHEDULE

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area, containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius centred on the Malte Brun Hut, and being part Reserve 2756, situated in Block VI, Cook Survey District.

Also all that area, containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius centred on the King Memorial (Haast) Hut, and being part Reserve 2756, situated in Block III, Mueller Survey District.

Also all that area, containing 6 acres 2 roods, more or less, within a circle of 100 yards radius centred on the Ball Hut, and being part Reserve 2756, situated in Block V, Mueller Survey District.

Also all that area, containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius centred on the Gardiner Hut, and being part Reserve 2652, situated in Block IV, Mueller Survey District.

Also all that area, containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius centred on the Hooker Hut, and being part Reserve 2652, situated in Block VII, Mueller Survey District.

Also all that area, containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius centred on the Sefton Bivouac, and being part Reserve 2652, situated in Block VI, Mueller Survey District.

Also all that area, containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius centred on the Mueller Hut, and being part Reserve 2652, situated in Block IX, Mueller Survey District.

Also all that area, containing 1 acre 2 roods 20 perches, more or less, within a circle of 50 yards radius centred on the Hermitage Electric Power Generating Station, together with a strip 10 ft. wide on each side of the water-supply line and including the intake, and being part Reserve 2652, situated in Block XIV, Mueller Survey District.

Also all that area, containing 157 acres, more or less, being part Reserve 2652, situated in Blocks X and XIV, Mueller Survey District; commencing at a point on the north bank of Black Birch Stream, in line with the north-eastern boundary of Rural Section 34350; thence north-westerly generally to and along that boundary to the northernmost corner of the said Rural Section; thence by right lines bearing 282° 20′, 1186·8 links, and 327° 20′, 2350 links, to the south bank of Kitchener Creek; thence easterly generally along the south bank of that creek, to and south-easterly along the western side of a watercourse to Black Birch Stream; thence south-westerly generally along the northern bank of Black Birch Stream to the point of commencement. Excepting thereout the portion of Main Highway 217 and legal roads within the above boundaries.

As shown on the plan marked L. and S. N.P. 9B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red, the said areas being numbered 1 to 9 respectively on the said plan. (S.O. Plan 8661.)

Adding Land to the Mount Cook National Park

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 10 of the National Parks Act 1952, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that the land described in the Schedule hereto, being Crown land subject to the provisions of the Land Act 1948, shall as from the date hereof be added to and form part of the Mount Cook National Park, and such land shall hereafter be subject to the provisions of the first-mentioned Act.

Approving the Term of a Licence Granted to Vacuum Oil Company (N.Z.) Limited, for a Tramway Across Cambridge Street in the Borough of Levin

At the Government House at Wellington, this 11th day of August 1954

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Tramways Act 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby approves of the term of the licence granted for a period of twenty-one years from the 1st day of February 1954 by the Levin Borough Council to Vacuum Oil Company (N.Z.) Limited, a duly incorporated company having its registered office at Wellington, which licence authorizes the said company to maintain a private tramway on and across Cambridge Street in the Borough of Levin, the position of such tramway being more particularly shown on the plan marked P.W.D. 72008, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington.
