Liquidation of German Property in Italy

THE Minister of External Affairs has been informed that, in accordance with the provisions of Article 77 of the Treaty of Peace with Italy, the Governments of the United Kingdom, the United States, and France have decided to liquidate, with certain exceptions, German property in Italy which is still held under Italian war-time legislation.
Any persons, therefore, who believe that they may have a claim to such property should make application by registered letter before 31 October 1954 to the Segretaria del Comitato internazionale per la liquidazione dei beni tedeschi in Italia presso il Ministero del Tesoro, Ufficio Beni Alleati e Nemici —Rome, requesting that their property be exempted from liquidation. The application should be supported by documents proving that the applicant:

(a) Has resided permanently in a country other than Germany during the war and afterwards up till 14 August 1947; or

(b) Is entitled to the property as heir of persons who lost their lives or suffered under racial, religious, or political discriminating legislation; or

(c) Is entitled to claim properties belonging to religious institutions or private charitable organizations, used exclusively for religious or charitable purposes; or

(d) Has a claim to properties belonging to a society or any other organization formed in accordance with German law, from which other than German nationals may benefit, even though the society itself be German; or

(e) Is entitled to properties released following a sequestration agreement with another Government; or

(f) Is entitled to properties which are under Italian jurisdiction as a result of the resumption of trade and business with Germany.

D. Christie, R.D. 5, Tauranga, has applied for a licence to resell motor spirit from one pump to be installed on store premises at the Mount Maunganui turn-off of the Tauranga-Whakatane Main Highway.
East Tamaki Motors Ltd., East Tamaki, has applied for permission to change the retail selling point of one pump from its present position to a new site six feet farther away from the garage building at the above address, but not nearer the road.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 19 August 1954, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender.
