Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 9) 1954

PURSUANT to regulation 15 of the Import Control Regulations 1938,* the Minister of Customs hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 9) 1954.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the 30th day of July 1954.
  2. Goods of the classes specified in the Schedule hereto, imported from and being the produce or manufacture of any country, are hereby exempted from the requirement of a licence under the said regulations.

SCHEDULE

Ex 31 Cocoa or cacao butter; lecithin, vegetable.
85 (3) Fish, potted, and preserved, n.e.i., including any liquor, oil, or sauce.
Ex 36 (2) Dried prunes (imported after 1 February 1955).
Ex 95 (3) Boric acid.
Ex 102 (1) Pine tar.
Ex 115 (2) Essential oils, viz.—Pine oil.
116 (3) Gases, liquefied or compressed, viz.—n.e.i.
Ex 124 (7) Sodium bicarbonate (borax).
134 Surgeons’, physicians’, dentists’, and opticians’ appliances, instruments and materials, viz.—
(1) (a) Appliances (including splints) for wear, even if medicated, peculiarly adapted to correct a deformity of the human body, to afford support to an abnormal condition of the human body, or to reduce or alleviate such condition, or to substitute any part of such body; stump socks; crutches; ear trumpets.
Ex (2) Surgical and dental hand instruments.
(3) Surgeons’, physicians’, and dentists’ materials, viz.—
    (a) Antiseptic dressings, gauzes, lint, tow, poroplastic felt, adhesive plaster not including medicated remedial plaster or plasters, spongiopiline, bandages, catgut, and sterilized and other sewings, artificial teeth, tooth crowns, celluloid blanks, base plates, denture-strengtheners, gutta-percha stick, points, and pellets, amadou absorbent, porcelain powder, enamel, inlays, modelling composition, investment compound, cement, and absorbent paper; also such other materials peculiar to surgeons’, physicians’, or dentists’ use as may be enumerated in any order of the Minister.
    (b) Cotton wool.
172 Printers’ blanketing on declaration that it will be used only in printing.
177 Staymakers’ corset-fasteners, corset-shields, corset-steels, and busk-protectors.
194 Belts, and belting, n.e.i., for driving machinery; conveyor belts, and belting, of rubber, textile, fibre, or combinations of these materials; cordage or rope on declaration that it will be used only for driving machinery.
198 (5) Grinder, viz.—
Nails, pegs, rivets, and tacks, peculiar to use in bootmaking.
(6) Shoemakers’ binding and beading.
Ex 205 (6) (a) Pneumatic rubber tires, and tubes therefor, n.e.i. of sizes other than the following or their equivalent (irrespective of ply rating, tread type, or pattern):
