Special Order Made by the Hutt County Council Altering Riding Boundaries and Adjusting Representation
PURSUANT to section 100 of the Counties Act 1920, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act 1921-22, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Hutt County Council, and fixes the 1st day of April 1955 as the date from which the said special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER
IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 23, 69 (b), and 100 of the Counties Act 1920, and section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act 1921-22, the Hutt County Council hereby resolves, by way of special order, as follows:
"1. That the present division of the County of Hutt into ten Ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said County shall be divided into eleven Ridings by subdividing the Kapiti Riding into two Ridings, to be known as Kapiti Riding and Raumati Riding, which are respectively described in the Schedule hereunder.
"2. That the said Hutt County Council shall consist of eleven members. The electors of Kapiti and Raumati Ridings shall each elect one member.
"3. That the alteration hereby made shall take effect on a date to be fixed in that behalf by the Minister of Internal Affairs, and notified in the Gazette."
The foregoing special order, entitled "Subdivision of Kapiti Riding into Two Ridings and Adjusting Representation on the Hutt County Council" was duly passed by the Hutt County Council at a special meeting of the said Council held on 13 May 1954, and confirmed at a subsequent ordinary meeting of the said Council held on 24 June 1954.

Kapiti Riding
ALL that area in the Hutt County, Wellington Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Waikanae River in line with the eastern boundary of Ngarara West A, Section 80E, situated in Block 111, Kapiti Survey District, and proceeding in a southerly direction generally to and along the eastern boundaries of Ngarara West A, Sections 80E and 80F, to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence along the north-western boundary of the land shown on plan numbered 3807, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington, the north-western boundary of part Lot 7 on plan numbered 2241, deposited as aforesaid, the north-western boundaries of Sections 28 and 18, Ngarara Settlement, to the westernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of Sections 18 and 38, Ngarara Settlement, to the northernmost corner of Ngarara West B, Section 5; thence along the north-western boundary of the last-mentioned section and its production to the south-western side of Beach Road; thence along the south-western side of Beach Road to the northernmost corner of Ngarara West B, Section 4; thence south-westerly generally along the north-western boundary of the last-mentioned section, and along the south-western boundary of Ngarara West B, Section 5, to the eastern corner of Lot 124 on the plan numbered 16362, deposited as aforesaid; thence along the south-eastern boundaries of Lots 124, 121, 120, 119, 118, 117, 116, and 115 on plan numbered 16362, deposited as aforesaid, and along the southern boundary of Lot 115 aforesaid to Alexander Road; thence by a right line across the said road to the south-eastern corner of Lot 15 on plan numbered 16362, deposited as aforesaid; thence along the southern boundary of the said Lot 15 and the western and southern boundaries of Lot 16, Block III, on the plan numbered 2767, deposited as aforesaid, to Matatua Road; thence by a right line across the said road to the north-eastern corner of Lot 7 on plan numbered 7226, deposited as aforesaid; thence along the northern boundaries of Lots 7 and 9 on the said plan numbered 7226, and the southern boundary of Lot 29, Block I, on plan numbered 2397, deposited as aforesaid, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Old Coach Route to the sea coast; thence northerly generally along the sea coast to the middle of the mouth of the Waikanae River; thence easterly up the middle of the said river to a point opposite the eastern boundary of Ngarara West A, Section 80E, the point of commencement.
Raumati Riding
All that area in the Hutt County, Wellington Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea coast opposite the southern boundary of Lot 29, Block I, on plan numbered 2397, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington; thence proceeding easterly across Old Coach Route, to and along the southern boundary of the said Lot 29, and the northern boundaries of Lots 9 and 7 on plan numbered 7226, deposited as aforesaid, to Matatua Road; thence by a right line across the said road to the south-western corner of Lot 16, Block III, on plan numbered 2767, deposited as aforesaid; thence along the southern and eastern boundaries of the said Lot 16, and the southern boundary of Lot 15 on plan numbered 16362, to Alexander Road; thence by a right line across the said road to the south-western corner of Lot 115 on plan numbered 16362, deposited as aforesaid; thence easterly along the southern boundary of Lot 115 aforesaid, and north-easterly along the south-eastern boundaries of Lots 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, and 124 on plan numbered 16362, deposited as aforesaid, to the eastern corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of Ngarara West B, Sections 5, 4, 3A, 3B, 3C, and 2C to the western side of the Levin-Packakariki State Highway; thence southerly generally along the western side of that highway to the northern boundary of the land shown on plan numbered 9060, deposited as aforesaid; thence north-westerly generally along that northern boundary to the middle of the Whareroa Stream; thence westerly generally along the middle of that stream to its mouth; thence northerly generally along the sea coast to a point opposite the southern boundary of Lot 29, Block I, on plan numbered 2397, deposited as aforesaid, the point of commencement.

Arbor Day 1954
IT is hereby notified that Wednesday, 4 August 1954, is to be observed as Arbor Day, and, in view of the national importance of tree planting, local bodies throughout New Zealand are requested to organize suitable celebrations on that date.
Where, on account of local climatic conditions in any district, the 4th day of August is deemed unsuitable the local bodies affected are invited to observe some other suitable day in the month.

Appointing Whangarei County Council to Control and Manage a Reserve
PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby appoints the Whangarei County Council to control and manage the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, subject to the provisions of the said Act, as a scenic reserve.

Appointing the Edendale Town Board to Control and Manage a Reserve
PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby appoints the Edendale Town Board to control and manage the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, subject to the provisions of the said Act, as a scenic reserve.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT - EDENDALE SCENIC RESERVE
Sections 134E and 135E, Edendale Settlement, situated in Block V, Lothian Hundred, and Block I, Maitaura Hundred: Area, 205 acres 2 roods, more or less.
