Extending Time for Holding Election of Councillor of Levels County

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington, this 7th day of July 1954

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council

WHEREAS, pursuant to the Counties Act 1920 and the Local Elections and Polls Act 1953, an election of a Councillor of the County of Levels was required to be held not later than Thursday, the 13th day of May 1954:

And whereas that election has not yet been held:

And whereas it is desirable to extend the time for holding the said election:

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 100 of the Local Elections and Polls Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that the time for the holding of the said election is extended to Saturday, the 14th day of August 1954.

Pile Beacon Destroyed

THE light on the boulder bank in position 41° 15′ 45″ S., 173° 16′ 46″ E. (approx.), has been destroyed during heavy weather.

Mariners are advised that the beacon and light will be replaced as soon as possible.

Chart temporarily affected: 2185.

Light Buoy Shifted and Replaced

Position: South Head Light 36° 25′ 45″ S., 174° 14′ 21″ E. (approx.).

Details: (a) Beacon Beach lighted buoy. 337° (T) 13·75 miles from the above position has been replaced by an unlighted cask buoy in the same position.

(b) A light buoy painted red, Fl. ev. 12 sec. has been moored 0054° (T) 7·7 miles from the above position.

Position: Opua Wharf light, F.R. Lat. 35° 18′ 37″ S., long. 174° 07′ 17″ E. (approx.).

Details: (a) The mast 302° (T), 0·42 miles from the above position, is to be expunged.

(b) The mast 294° (T), 0·2 miles from the above position, is to be expunged.

(c) The old wharf 325° (T), 1·9 miles from the above position, is to be expunged.

(d) The pier and sawmill 346° (T), 0·42 miles from the above position, is to be expunged.

(e) The wharf, chimney, and sawmill 114° (T), 0·7 miles from the above position, is to be expunged.

(f) The symbol for a pier is to be inserted 341° (T) 0·45 miles from the above position.
