CONSOLIDATION OF RATES

PUBLIC notice is given that the Ashburton Borough Council will by special order at a meeting of the Council to be held on Thursday, 17 June 1954, at 5.30 p.m., in the Municipal Chambers, Havelock Street, Ashburton, submit the following special order for confirmation:

SPECIAL ORDER

That the Ashburton Borough Council, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 2 of the Ashburton Borough Special Rates Consolidation Act 1945, doth hereby resolve by way of special order as follows:

‘‘That the following special rates be made and levied an annually recurring rate on a uniform basis for the whole borough as a consolidated rate on all the rateable property within the Borough of Ashburton:

BALCLUTHA BOROUGH COUNCIL

SPECIAL ORDER

CERTIFIED copy of resolution passed at a special meeting of the Balclutha Borough Council held on 21 October 1952:

‘‘Milk Treatment Station Loan 1952, £6,000

‘‘Resolved, that the Balclutha Borough Council, pursuant to the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926 and its amendments, the Municipal Corporations Act 1933, and of all other Acts and powers enabling it in that behalf, do hereby resolve by way of special order as follows:

‘‘1. That a special loan of £6,000, to be known as Milk Treatment Station Loan 1952, be raised by the Balclutha Borough Council for the purpose of erecting a building for use as a milk treatment station.

‘‘2. That the term for which the said loan or any part thereof may be raised shall be thirty years from the date of raising the said loan or part thereof.

‘‘3. That the rate of interest that may be paid in respect of the said loan or any part thereof be such as shall not produce to the lender or lenders a rate exceeding £4 per centum per annum.

‘‘4. That the said loan or any part thereof shall be raised upon terms of making the same, together with interest thereon, repayable by equal aggregate annual or half-yearly instalments extending over the said term of thirty years.

‘‘5. That the payment of such instalments shall be made in New Zealand and no such instalment shall be paid out of loan money.

‘‘6. That the rate payable for brokerage, underwriting, and procurement fees in respect of the raising of the said loan or any part thereof shall not in the aggregate exceed one-half per centum of any amount raised.

‘‘7. That the security for the interest, principal, and other charges and for repayment of the said special loan shall be a special rate of 0·672d. in the pound on the rateable unimproved value of all rateable property in the Borough of Balclutha.

‘‘Further resolved, that the above resolution be confirmed at a meeting of the Council, on Wednesday, 26 November 1952.’’

‘‘Waterworks Extension Loan 1953, £7,000

‘‘Resolved, that the Balclutha Borough Council, pursuant to the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926 and its amendments, the Municipal Corporations Act 1933, and of all other Acts and powers enabling it in that behalf, do hereby resolve by way of special order as follows:

‘‘1. That a special loan of £7,000, to be known as Waterworks Extension Loan 1953, be raised by the Balclutha Borough Council for the purpose of completing the purpose for which the Waterworks Extension Loan 1949, £16,500, was raised.

‘‘2. That the term for which the said loan or any part thereof may be borrowed shall be thirty years.

‘‘3. That the rate of interest that may be paid in respect of the said loan or any part thereof shall be such as shall not produce to the lender or lenders a rate exceeding 4 per cent per annum.

‘‘4. That the said loan or any part thereof, together with interest thereon, shall be repaid by equal aggregate annual or half-yearly instalments extending over the term as determined in 2 above.

‘‘5. That the payment of such instalments shall be made in New Zealand and no such instalment shall be paid out of loan money.

‘‘6. That the rate payable for brokerage, underwriting, and procurement fees in respect of the raising of the said loan or any part thereof shall not in the aggregate exceed one-half per centum of any amount raised.
