at a meeting of the Taranaki Electric Power Board held in
Pahiatua on the 21st day of May 1954, and is recorded in the
minutes of its proceedings of that date on page 1338.

APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE FOR A WATER-RACE
THE MINING ACT 1926
I, JOHN HUBERT SULLIVAN, of Poolburn, Farmer,
hereby give notice that I have applied for a licence for a
water-race to divert ½ head of water for purposes of a supply
for domestic use and watering stock, commencing in an
unnamed creek in my land, being Section 4, Block I, Poolburn
District, at a point about ½ mile south of my dwelling,
running thence northerly a distance of approximately 1,230
yards, and terminating at a reservoir on my said land.
The application and all objections thereto, will be heard
on Wednesday, 4 August 1954, at the Warden's Court, at
Cromwell, and all objections must be filed in the Registrar's
office and notified to me or my solicitor at least three days
before the time so appointed.

THE MINING ACT 1926
NOTICE is hereby given that I will apply to the Warden's
Court at Cromwell, on Wednesday, the 4th day of
August 1954, at 10 a.m., for the grant to me of a water-race
licence for one-tenth (¹⁄₁₀) of a head of water from a
tributary of Golden Gully Stream in Section 16, Block IV,
Shotover Survey District, by means of a three-inch (3") iron
pipe at commencement point, reducing to one inch (1") at
terminating point, point commencing in the said tributary
at the boundary of the said Section 16 and thence running
due east thirty (30) chains and thence twenty (20) chains
20° (twenty degrees) to terminating point, which one (1)
chain from southern corner of my house, for domestic
purposes, watering stock, and irrigation.
Objections must be filed in the Registrar's office, at
Cromwell, and notified to the applicant, or his solicitor,
B. P. Sheehan, Ballarat Street, Queenstown, at least three
(3) days before the above date of hearing.

ELLERSLIE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, the Ellerslie
Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:
''That, for the purpose of providing the interest and
other charges on a loan of £40,000, authorized to be raised by
the Ellerslie Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act
for the purpose of providing funds for constructing and
improving streets and footpaths, including kerbing, channelling,
and stormwater drainage, the Ellerslie Borough Council hereby
makes and levies a special rate of four decimal three eight
pence (4·38d.) in the pound on the annual value of all rateable
property in the borough of Ellerslie; and that such special rate
shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such
special loan, and being a period of twenty (20) years, or until
the loan is fully paid.''
I hereby certify that the above is a true and correct
extract from the minute book of the Ellerslie Borough Council
and that a copy of the resolution has been forwarded to the
Secretary of the Local Government Loans Board.

Carpenter, and now or lately called JAMES JOSEPH GODDARD,
do hereby absolutely renounce and abandon the use of my
said name of JAMES JOSEPH GODDARD, and in lieu thereof
adopt the name of JAMES JOSEPH CUNNINGHAM: And for the
purpose of evidencing such change of name I hereby declare
that I shall at all times thereafter in all actions, suits, and
proceedings as well as in all dealings and transactions, matters,
and things whatsoever, and upon all occasions, use and
subscribe the said name of JAMES JOSEPH CUNNINGHAM as
my name in lieu of the said name of JAMES JOSEPH GODDARD,
abandoned as aforesaid: And I therefore hereby expressly
authorize and require all persons whomsoever at all times to
designate, describe, and address me by such adopted name of
JAMES JOSEPH CUNNINGHAM.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my adopted
and substituted name of JAMES JOSEPH CUNNINGHAM, this
11th day of June 1954.
