Authorizing the Kawhia County Council to Reclaim Land
in Kawhia Harbour

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 7th day
of April 1954
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is provided by section 175 of the Harbours
Act 1950 (hereinafter called the said Act), that the
Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in
Council, authorize any local authority or Harbour Board
to reclaim from the sea areas, not exceeding 5 acres in
extent, in any case where he considers that the reclamation
will not affect navigation, and is for the benefit of the
public:
And whereas the Kawhia County Council (hereinafter
called the Council) is desirous of reclaiming from the sea
certain land in Kawhia Harbour, and the said reclamation
is of such a nature as aforesaid, and the Council has applied
to the Governor-General in Council for an Order authorizing
the execution of the said harbour works:
And whereas it has been made to appear to the Governor-
General in Council that the proposed work will not be or
tend to the injury of navigation, and is for the benefit of
the public:
Now, therefore, pursuant to the Harbours Act 1950,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby
authorizes and empowers the Council to reclaim from the
sea in Kawhia Harbour the land edged red on plan marked
M.D. 9634, and deposited in the office of the Marine Depart-
ment at Wellington, such reclamation to be carried out and
constructed in accordance with plan marked M.D. 9634,
subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Cancelling the Appointment of a Member of the Soil Conser-
vation and Rivers Control Council and Appointing a Member
of the Said Council

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the 8th day of July 1952
and published in the Gazette of the 10th day of July
1952 at page 1187,
Walter Alexander Lee, Esquire, O.B.E., of Waitomo Caves,
Farmer, as representing County Councils of the North
Island,
was appointed to be a member of the Soil Conservation and
Rivers Control Council:
And whereas the said Walter Alexander Lee has resigned
from membership of the said Council:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section 3 of the Soil Con-
servation and Rivers Control Act 1941, I, Lieutenant-General
Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General
of New Zealand, hereby cancel the appointment of the said
Walter Alexander Lee to be a member of the said Council,
and hereby appoint
Denys William Wanklyn Williams, Esquire, of Tokomaru
Bay, Farmer, as representing County Councils of the
North Island
to be a member of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control
Council.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 15th day of April 1954.
