PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby consents to the land described in the Schedule hereto being taken for street.

Constitution of Board of Managers of Horowhenua College

THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Education Act 1914, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order and regulations.
ORDER
- The constitution of the Board of Managers for Horowhenua College specified in the regulations for Manual and Technical Instruction* is hereby varied so that the Board shall consist of:
(a) One manager appointed by the Wellington Education Board;
(b) Two managers elected by the members of the School Committees of the Shannon Public School, the Koputaroa Public School, the Poroutawhao Public School, the Muhunoa East Public School, the Levin Public School, the Levin East Public School, the Ohau Public School, the Manakau Public School and the Otaki Public School;
(c) Four managers elected by the parents of the pupils attending the school, of which managers one shall be a woman;
(d) One manager elected by the Levin Borough Council and the Horowhenua County Council;
(e) One manager appointed by the Governor-General. - The Minister of Education may from time to time, by notice in the Gazette, add to the schools to which paragraph (b) of clause 1 of this order applies.
REGULATIONS - These regulations may be cited as the Horowhenua College Regulations 1954.
- The provisions of Part III of the regulations for Manual and Technical Instruction* shall with the necessary modifications apply in the election and appointment of Managers of Horowhenua College: Provided that the committee of management of the Horowhenua College may fix the date for the first election to the Board.

Constituting Okato Secondary Urban Fire District

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 18 of the Fire Services Act 1949, the Taranaki County Council requested that the urban area of Okato be constituted a secondary urban fire district:
And whereas, pursuant to the said section 18, the Fire Service Council has certified that the appropriate standards for a secondary urban fire district have been complied with in respect of the said area:
And whereas, pursuant to the said section 18, the request has been referred to the Local Government Commission:
And whereas, pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1946, the Local Government Commission has recommended that action be taken under the Fire Services Act 1949 to constitute the said area a secondary urban fire district:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section 18 of the Fire Services Act 1949, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares the urban area of Okato to be a secondary urban fire district by the name of the Okato Secondary Urban Fire District.

Consenting to the Raising of the Balance (£5,000) of the South Canterbury Catchment Board's Loan of £20,000 and Prescribing the Conditions Thereof

ORDER IN COUNCIL

THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the 7th day of November 1951 (hereinafter called the said Order in Council) and subject to the determinations as to borrowing and repayment therein set out, consent was given to the raising by the South Canterbury Catchment Board (hereinafter called the said local authority) of a loan of twenty thousand pounds to be known as 'Orari River Mouth Works Loan 1951' (hereinafter called the said loan):
And whereas the authority conferred by the said Order in Council has not yet been exercised to the extent of five thousand pounds:
And whereas the aforesaid authority has lapsed in accordance with the provisions of clause 4 of the said Order in Council, and it is not now lawful or competent for the said local authority to raise the balance of the said loan or any portion thereof, except in accordance with the provisions of a further Order in Council that may be issued pursuant to section 11 of the Local Government Loans Board Act 1926 (hereinafter called the said Act):
And whereas the said local authority is now desirous of raising the balance of the said loan amounting to five thousand pounds (hereinafter called the said sum) and it is expedient to authorize the said local authority to raise the said sum or any portion thereof on the conditions hereinafter set out:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section 11 of the said Act as set out in section 29 of the Finance Act 1932 (No. 2), His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby consents to the raising in New Zealand by the said local authority of the said sum up to the amount of five thousand pounds for the purpose for which the said loan was authorized, and in giving such consent hereby determines as follows:
- The term for which the said sum or any part thereof may be raised shall not exceed seven years.
- The rate of interest that may be paid in respect of the said sum or any part thereof shall be such as shall not produce to the lender or lenders a rate or rates exceeding three and one-half per cent per annum.
- The said sum or any part thereof, together with interest thereon, shall be repaid by equal aggregate annual instalments extending over the term as determined in clause 1 hereof.
- No money shall be borrowed under this consent after the expiration of two years from the date hereof.
