Setting Apart Unalienated Crown Land and State Forest
Land in the Nelson Land District for the Purposes of
Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925

C. W. M. NORRIE, Governor-General
PURSUANT to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency
the Governor-General hereby sets apart the land described
in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of Part III of the
Coal Mines Act 1925.

SCHEDULE
All that area in the Nelson Land District containing
approximately 17,650 acres, situated in Blocks XV and XVI,
Reefton Survey District, and Blocks III and IV, Waitahu
Survey District, being permanent State forest (Gazette 1936,
page 968—7,100 acres) and provisional State forest (Gazette
1920, pages 2111 and 2112—10,200 acres) and unalienated
Crown land—350 acres bounded generally as follows:
Commencing at Trig Station M in Block XV, Reefton
Survey District; thence in a north-easterly direction by a
right line to the north-eastern corner of Block XV aforesaid;
thence in an easterly and southerly direction along the northern
and eastern boundaries of Block XVI, Reefton Survey District,
to the south-eastern corner of that block; thence in a south-
westerly direction by a right line to Trig. Station C.A. ‘‘Mt.
Albert’’ in Block IV, Waitahu Survey District; thence in
a westerly direction by a right line to the easternmost corner
of Section 6, Block III, Waitahu Survey District; thence in
a north-easterly direction by the south-eastern boundary of
Section 5, Block III, aforesaid; thence in a north-westerly
direction by the north-eastern boundaries of Section 12,
Square 126, Section 170, Square 131, and Sections 5, 3, 2,
and 7, Block III, aforesaid to the Reefton—Waipara, via
Lewis Pass State Highway and by that highway to the
western boundary of Block III aforesaid; thence in a northerly
direction by the western boundary of Block III aforesaid to
its north-western corner; thence in a north-easterly direction
by a right line to Trig. Station M in Block XV, aforesaid,
the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly
delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Mines
Department, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

PURSUANT to section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act
1927, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke
Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby
authorize the persons named in the Schedule hereto, being the
holders of the offices specified after their names, to take and
receive statutory declarations under that section.

ments Under the Chattels Transfer Act 1924

PURSUANT to section 547 of the Maori Land Act 1931, I,
Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie,
the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby notify and
declare that
Quentin Ian Schofield, Field Supervisor, Tikitiki;
John Thomas Kaua, Maori Welfare Officer, Ruatoria;
Ronald Graham, Housing Officer, Gisborne;
John James MacCauley, Acting Welfare Officer, Wairoa;
being officers in the service of the Crown employed by the
Department of Maori Affairs in the positions set out opposite
their respective names, are authorized to attest, in accordance
with the provisions of the said section 547, the signatures of
Maoris to instruments by way of security within the meaning
of the Chattels Transfer Act 1924.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 5th day of December 1953.

Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie,
the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby notify and
declare that
Quentin Ian Schofield, Field Supervisor, Tikitiki;
John Thomas Kaua, Maori Welfare Officer, Ruatoria;
Ronald Graham, Housing Officer, Gisborne;
John James MacCauley, Acting Welfare Officer, Wairoa;
being officers in the service of the Crown employed by the
Department of Maori Affairs in the positions as set out
opposite their respective names, are authorized to attest, in
accordance with the provisions of the said section 268, the
signatures of the Maoris to instruments of alienation of
Maori land.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 5th day of December 1953.

Lands Reserved in the North Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki,
and Wellington Land Districts

WHEREAS by section 167 of the Land Act 1948, it is
enacted that the Governor-General may from time to
time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same
may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation
licence, any Crown land for any purpose which in his opinion
is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall
be published in the New Zealand Gazette:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section 167 of the said Act,
I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie,
the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby reserve, subject
to the reservations and conditions imposed by section 59 of
the Land Act 1948, the lands in the North Auckland, Hawke’s
Bay, Taranaki, and Wellington Land Districts described in
the Schedule hereunder written for the purposes specified at
the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended
to be reserved.

ALLOTMENT 447, Town of Grahamtown, situated in Block XIII,
Whangarei Survey District: Area, 1 acre 1 rood 20 perches,
