“(b) For taking the client's instructions, preparing preliminary studies for consideration and discussion, preparing working drawings and specifications, selecting and instructing consultants (if any), furnishing the necessary copies of the drawings and specifications as above, two-thirds of the scale charges for complete services set out in clause 1 above based on a reasonable estimated or actual cost of the projected work.”
- Clause 6 (a) of Appendix K of the principal regulations is revoked, and the following substituted:
“For carrying out the architectural work relating to the alterations and repairs the charge shall be according to the work and responsibility involved beyond that required in new work and shall be at least 0.5 per cent higher than but not more than twice the percentage charges set out above.”

Section II of Appendix K of the principal regulations is revoked.

Section III of Appendix K of the principal regulations to be renumbered Section II, and is amended by the substitution of the words “eight guineas” for the words “five guineas”.

Section IV of Appendix K of the principal regulations to be renumbered Section III, and is amended by the substitution of the words “eight guineas” for the words “five guineas”.

Clause 3 of the Form of Application in Appendix B of the principal regulations is amended by the addition after the words “photographs of those submitted” of the words “but subject to a recommendation by not less than six Fellows, being members of any Branch, working drawings shall not be required”.

By-law 7 of the By-laws of District Branches of the principal regulations is amended by the addition to the first sentence, of the words—
“Provided that if any District Branch shall have no Fellow upon its membership roll, or provided that in any District no Fellow is willing to be nominated, it shall be competent for the Annual General Meeting of such Branch to elect one or more Associates, who for the time being are recorded on the Register of the Institute as Associates in Practice, in place of any one or more of the Fellows hereinbefore required.”
I hereby certify that the foregoing regulations were duly made at a general meeting of members of the New Zealand Institute of Architects held at Rotorua on 21 April 1952, and in compliance with the provisions of section 21 of the New Zealand Institute of Architects Act 1913.

Fixing Date on Which Certain Returns Under the Fire Services Act 1949, are to be Furnished
PURSUANT to section 52 of the Fire Services Act 1949, it is hereby notified that the returns showing the total gross amount of premiums received by or due to fire-insurance companies during the year ended 31 December 1952 shall be transmitted to the Fire Service Council in the manner prescribed by the said section on or before the 28th day of February 1953.

Notice of Intention to Take Additional Land in Block XV, Christchurch Survey District, for a Public School
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act 1928, to take the additional land described in the Schedule hereto for a public school; and notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Beckenham and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940
PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provisions shall apply:
A motor-driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, to the persons described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize them to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of their employment for the employers described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize them while they are under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.
