Licensing Control Commission—Awarding Compensation to Owners

TAKE notice that, pursuant to the provisions of the Licensing Amendment Act 1948, the Commission has awarded the following amount of compensation to The Lodge (Hanmer), Limited, the owner, consequent upon the surrender of the tourist-house licence in respect of the premises shown below:

The Lodge, Hanmer—

The Lodge (Hanmer), Limited, care of Messrs Lane, Neave, and Wanklyn, Solicitors, Hereford Street, Christchurch, as owner, the sum of £2,400.

And further take notice that no person (other than the above-named person and other than a person claiming lien as mortgagee) shall be entitled to receive the compensation or make any claim in respect of the compensation awarded unless notice in writing of such claim, stating whether compensation is claimed by him as owner or as licensee, is lodged with the Commission within six weeks of the 3rd day of December 1953, being the date of publication of this notice in the Gazette: and further take notice that any mortgagee from an owner or licensee shall, upon giving written notice to the Commission within one month after the 3rd day of December 1953 aforesaid, have a lien on the amount of compensation payable to the mortgagor for the amount of the mortgage debt and any interest or other charges owing to the mortgagee under or in respect of the mortgage.

Unclaimed Lands—Notice by the Public Trustee Under the Public Trust Office Act 1908 and its Amendments

To the owner of the following land, that is to say: All that piece of land containing 20 acres, more or less, situated in Block VIII, Alford Survey District, being Rural Section 8506, and being all the land in certificate of title, Volume 98, folio 89, Canterbury Registry, the registered proprietor of which is JOHN HOGAN, of Wellington, Miner.

WHEREAS after due inquiry, the owner of the above-described land cannot be found:

And whereas the said owner has no known agent in New Zealand:

Now the Public Trustee hereby calls upon such owner, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in the New Zealand Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his title to the said land, and if he fails or neglects so to do the Public Trustee will exercise as regards the said land the powers and authorities granted to him in and by the Public Trust Office Act 1908 (Part II) and its amendments.
