DECLARATION OF POLL ON PROPOSAL TO ADOPT SYSTEM OF RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUE
PURSUANT to section 42 of the Rating Act 1925, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Waihi taken on the 31st day of October 1953 on the proposal that the system of rating in the said borough be on the unimproved value:
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 365. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 179. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

BOROUGH OF PUKEKOHE
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926, the Pukekohe Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:
‘That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on the loan of £4,500 authorized to be raised by the Pukekohe Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of carrying out drainage and sewerage works required under a requisition issued by the Board of Health, the said Pukekohe Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of thirteen one-thousandths of a penny (13/1000d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property of the whole of the Borough of Pukekohe; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty (20) years, or until the loan is fully paid off’.
The foregoing resolution was passed at a meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council held on the 21st day of October 1953.

DECLARATION OF POLL ON PROPOSAL TO ABANDON THE SYSTEM OF RATING ON THE BASIS OF UNIMPROVED VALUE
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 44 of the Rating Act 1925, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the City of Nelson was taken on the 31st day of October 1953 on a proposal to abandon the system of rating on unimproved value in the said city, and that the number of votes for and against the proposal was as follows:
For unimproved value, 1,499.
Against unimproved value, 1,238.
Informal, 11.
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.
