Officers of Police Force Appointed
HIS Excellency The Governor-General has been pleased to appoint
Senior Sergeant Fred Taylor and
Senior Sergeant Malcolm Edwin Parker
to be Sub-Inspectors in the New Zealand Police Force, the appointment in each case to take effect on and after 19 March 1953, and
Senior Sergeant Andrew Douglas Buchanan and
Senior Sergeant Carl Leslie Spencer
to be Sub-Inspectors in the New Zealand Police Force, the appointment in each case to take effect on and after 10 September 1953.

Additional Member of Domain Board Appointed
PURSUANT to section 46 of the Public Reserves and Domains Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to increase the total number of members of the Cambridge Domain Board from seven to eight, and to appoint Frank Herbert Short as the additional member thereby rendered necessary.

Scheme of Control of Whakatane High School
Pursuant to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the Minister of Education hereby approves of Whakatane High School being controlled in accordance with the provisions of the Standard Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools published at page 3451 of Volume III of the New Zealand Gazette of the year 1928:
Provided thatβ
(a) Clause 10 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the following proviso were added thereto:
'Provided that separate rolls shall be prepared and separate elections conducted in accordance with the said Schedule by the parents of pupils resident in the Borough of Whakatane and by those resident outside Whakatane':
(b) Clause 11 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the reference to the year 1929 were a reference to the year 1953:
(c) Clause 19 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if every reference to the year 1929 were a reference to the year 1956.

Special Order Made by the Tauranga County Council Altering Riding Boundaries
Pursuant to section 100 of the Counties Act 1920, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act 1921β22, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Tauranga County Council, and fixes the 20th day of September 1953 as the date from which the said special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER
THAT in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act 1920, the Tauranga County Council resolves, by way of special order, to:
'1. Alter the boundaries of the existing Katikati Riding to exclude therefrom a new riding to be known as Katikati Town Riding.
2. Alter the boundaries of the existing Te Puna Riding to exclude therefrom a portion of that riding and to include the same within the boundaries of the Waimapu Riding.
3. Alter the boundaries of the existing Waimapu Riding to include therein the portion of the Te Puna Riding thus excluded, and to exclude therefrom a new riding to be known as Greerton Riding.'
The new descriptions of the boundaries of the said ridings thus altered, and the description of the new ridings thus created, to be as described in the Schedule hereto.
I hereby certify that the above resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Tauranga County Council held on the 3rd day of August 1953, and after public notification was duly confirmed as a Special Order at the ordinary meeting of the Council held on the 7th day of September, 1953.

Katikati Riding
All that area in the Tauranga County bounded by a line commencing at a point (Te Ararimu) in Block I, Katikati Survey District, where the southern boundary of the Waihi No. 5 Block meets the sea; and running southerly generally along the shores of the Pacific Ocean and the line of mean high water on the western shores of the Tauranga Harbour, to its intersection with a right line between the south-western corner of Allotment 43, Parish of Tahawai, and a point on the eastern side of the Paeroa-Whakatane State Highway in line with the northern boundary of Lot 1 on Deposited Plan numbered 17963, being part of Allotment 53 of the aforesaid parish; thence along the aforesaid right line, across the aforesaid highway, to and along the northern and western boundaries of the aforesaid Lot 1 and Lot 2 on the aforesaid plan numbered 17963 and Lot 2 on Deposited Plan numbered 2052, being parts of the aforesaid Allotment 53; along the western boundaries of Sections 59 and 58 of Block VIII, Katikati Survey District, crossing an intersecting public road to Henry's Road, being the south-western corner of the aforesaid Section 58; thence easterly along the aforesaid Henry's Road, crossing an intersecting public road and the Uritara Stream to and along the south-western boundary of part Lot 2 on Deposited Plan numbered 8256, along a right line across the East Coast Main Trunk Railway, to and along the south-western boundaries of Lot 3 on Deposited Plan numbered 24558, and Lot 1 on Deposited Plan numbered 18378, the aforesaid lots being part of Allotment 48 of the aforesaid parish; thence along a right line across the Paeroa-Whakatane State Highway, to and along the south-western boundary of part of Lot 1 on Deposited Plan numbered 28117, being part of Allotment 49 of the aforesaid parish, along a right line
