Pursuant to subsection (1) and section 2 of the Transport
Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby determines:
that the vehicles specified in the Schedule hereto, forming part
of multi-axled vehicles as defined by section 2 of the said Act,
shall be deemed to be trailers.

T. 6924, T. 6925, T. 6926, T. 6927, T. 8223, T. 8224, T. 8225,

Notice to Mariners No. 70 of 1953
PROCEDURE FOR DIRECTING A SURFACE CRAFT TO A DISTRESS
INCIDENT
When it is necessary far an aircraft to direct a surface,
craft to the place where an aircraft or surface craft is
in distress, the aircraft shall do so by transmitting precise
instructions by any means at its disposal. If such precise
instructions cannot be transmitted or when necessary for
any other reason, the instructions shall be given by carrying
out the following procedure in the sequence given:
(a) Circling the surface craft at least once;
(b) Crossing the projected course of the vessel close ahead
at a low altitude, opening and closing the throttle,
or changing the propeller pitch;
(c) Heading in the direction in which the surface craft
is to be directed.
Repetition of such procedure shall have the same meaning
and should be continued until the vessel acknowledges.
Current maritime signalling procedures are:
For acknowledging receipt of signal-
(i) The hoisting of the 'Code Pennant', close up,
(ii) The flashing of a succession of "T's" by signal
lamp in the morse code.
(iii) The changing of the heading.
For indicating inability to comply-
(i) The hoisting of the international flag 'N'.
(ii) The flashing of a succession of "N's" in tho
morse code.
PROCEDURE TO SIGNIFY ASSISTANCE FROM A SURFACE CRAFT
NO LONGER REQUIRED
When the assistance of a surface craft is no longer
required an aircraft should crass the wake of the vessel close
astern at a low altitude, opening and closing the throttle or
changing the propeller pitch.
